St Colum’s PTA Newsletter - June Update

Summer's Here!

Summer is upon us and we are on the wind down to the end of the school year. What a year it has been! With your help the PTA have managed to raise a staggering

to date, which will go towards school related projects, details of which will be announced in due course. But before we put our feet up there are still lots of activities going on over the next few weeks.

First Holy Communion

The children of P4 will receive this sacrament on Sunday 3rd of June at 12.30pm at a special mass at Star of the Sea. As usual, there will be refreshments in the school afterwards and everyone is welcome. There will be a photographer on hand to capture portraits. We REALLY need volunteers to help with setting up the hall and cleaning up afterwards. Please let us know if you would be available for a few hours from 12pm.
Email or contact the school office.

The Summer Fair and BBQ

Roll up.. Roll up... the Summer Fair will take place on Wednesday 20th June from 6pm-8pm. There will be plenty of activities including bouncy castles, quad train, face-painting, games, as well as food and drinks. Admission is £2 for adults and kids go free. Let’s hope for a sunny and warm evening to add to the enjoyment.

GDPR update

Like every organisation the PTA is facing upcoming European legislation on data privacy. It’s a complicated old business but in summary, if you want to continue to receive these newsletters, we need you to OPT IN!  If you don’t we will have to remove you from the database and you won’t receive these newsletters in future. An opt in email will be dropping into your inbox shortly, please fill it in to keep up to date with what is happening in your school.

The AGM for the PTA is scheduled for Tuesday 18th September at 7pm. It seems a long way off, but we need some new fresh talent to join the team. A number of PTA committee members will be stepping down so we need other parents to fill their shoes. Its not a big commitment (meeting once a month) and it is a great way to get involved and contribute to your school. Please give it some thought as

your school needs you!

There’s a new information service in town and it is one you should add to your favourites. It will enable the school to keep in contact with parents and carers through a texting service and news updates This is in the process of being set up, so more information to follow.

easyfundraising - it really is easy!

End of Term

The day we have all been waiting for is Tuesday June 29th. The school will reopen again on Wednesday 29th August 2018.

Have a lovely Summer!!

And finally, a big THANKYOU on behalf of the PTA committee. Everything we do is towards your children’s benefit and we need the support of parents and carers and the whole community to make it a success. So give yourself a big pat of the back!

If you have any fundraising ideas that would help to support our children at
St. Colum's, then please get in touch by email, we'd love to hear from you!
