Happy New Year! Voice4Thought brings you it's latest news, projects and events coming up this year.
Looking Back at 2016
In May we took part in the "Welcome Here"festival in The Hague, bringing together our Voice4Thought bus, a poetry slam and a critical dialogue on our ideas of freedom.
In September we held our Voice4Thought Festival called,"People in Motion,"a 4 day event that united people from around the globe on the global migration crisis for travelers, migrants and refugees. We had performers and guests from Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Some of the highlights included dance performances by Ita de Hes and Chadian dancer, Yaya Sarria, film screenings from high school students in cooperations with LeidenGlobal and the film Stranded in Canton by the African Studies Center Leiden, an intimate concert by our Voice4Thought Band, and big concert “Music in Motion” featuring Ernst Jansz (of “Doe Maar”) and Syrian Rapper, Mohammad. Don’t forget that you can look back at the full programme here.
In December we hosted the Refu-G-Tunes Event where the Voice4Thought Band members Barbara Gwanmesia & Mette and Gosse van Dijk performed alongside pianist, Caroliene Devilee, and Iraqi musician, Sattar AlSaadi, inside the beautiful old Hooglandse Kerk, in Leiden. Beautiful works of art accompanied the event by Cindy van der Aa, Sapin Makengele, and Syrian refugee artist, Jomard Dirki. See the photos of the event on our Facebook Page.
