How is it September already? The summer has flown by and I've had lots of stuff on the go. Here's our monthly catch up!
I was recently approached by a lady who follows me on facebook to create a custom illustration for her. I consider it the highest compliment when someone asks me to create work for them in my style, so needless to say it was wonderful to create this beautiful piece for her.
Another fabulous commission landed in my lap in August - the creation of some custom illustrations for a local author. The text explores ancient Russia and Siberia and is firmly rooted in the natural world and shamanism. Naturally I had a lot of fun with this! View Gara here
New Totem Cards Available
Having completed 44 Totems so far, it's tough to decide which ones get made into cards. Lately I have not only re-ordered two of my best sellers Bee Totem and Owl Totem, but also added Phoenix Totem and Flamingo Totem to the collection. You can find them all on my Etsy shop!
I was commissioned to create a Hawk Totem for a friend in Canada and I'm delighted to say he will also be added to the Totem Deck when it's finished. I just love how he came out! Read his meaning here
With my Seraphim project, and to an extent my art in general I feel like I've been challenging some artistic tropes that I see happening in the art world at the moment. There seems to be a heavy emphasis on the female form (what's new eh?) and with that a lack of emphasis on the male form. With this project I'm exploring the concept of the male body being beautiful, majestic, even elegant - concepts that are more commonly associated with the female face and body.
Aurora is my latest piece and is still in progress at the moment... he hasn't told me he's done yet. ;)
