In March FILMEXPLORER followed two online festivals, the
Festival international et Forum sur les droits humains (
FIFDH, Geneva) and the
Schweizer Jugendfilmtage (Zurich). These festivals prove how important the discussion of films is: be it the political debates that a film provokes or the important feedback for young people discovering filmmaking, a critical contribution appears to be an essential task, as it remains forever focused on also the
form and specificity of film medium.

FILMEXPLORER’s commitment to encourage the younger generations of filmmakers has taken the form of a
space of discussion within the framework of Schweizer Jugendfilmtage’s
online events: «And now, why did you create this film?».
Festival international et Forum sur les droits humains
«Why a film?» – and not a written or photographic dossier, for example – has been our main question to orientate our critical gaze on the films presented at the
FIFDH in Geneva. We believe that film is a particular (and expensive) expressive form and should not be considered as a standardised instrument of communication.
