NOTES FROM THE STACKS
If you have not checked the Library’s events’ calendar lately, or picked up a copy of our monthly program brochure, you are missing out!

Library staff have worked hard over the past year to broaden the Library’s partnerships with other county divisions and outside agencies serving our residents and visitors.

A new partnership highlighted most appropriately during the month of November is our work with Veteran Services.  A division of Collier County Government, Veteran Services works to bring much needed programs to over 29,000 Collier County Veterans. Starting in November, Veteran Services staff will be holding regular, monthly informational sessions in Libraries.  If you are a Veteran, or a family member of a veteran, and you know of other ways the library can help give back to those who have served, Library staff would love to hear from you!

The Library will continue our partnership with the Museum during their Stories of the Paradise Coast festival, Nov. 17th & 18th.   So look for Library staff out and about in the community.

Library staff look forward to seeing you!

Tanya Williams
Library Director

Museums and libraries make for great partners on so many community initiatives. Our Library staff members attend and actively participate in many Collier County Museum programs to present story times, book club discussions, and provide general library information.

Most recently, we partnered with Collier County Museums for The Great American Read.  In doing so, librarians presented book discussions at many of the Collier County Museums to challenge local residents to participate and vote in The Great American Read. This joint PBS initiative was meant to spark a national conversation about reading, literacy, and the books that have inspired, moved and shaped us throughout our lives.

Library staff members will be actively participating in the free family fun by providing storytelling and Story times for the Stories of the Paradise Coast program on the weekend of November 17th and November 18th at the Collier Museum at the Government Center. For more information, check our November library brochure or go to https://colliermuseums.com/calendar-event/stories-of-the-paradise-coast

This December, look for us at the free Deck The Depot at Naples Depot Museum where we will provide holiday themed story times on Thursday, December 20th.   For more information, please go to https://colliermuseums.com/calendar-event/deck-the-depot

FRED FRIDAYS

We are big fans of Mr. Rogers here at the Headquarters Regional Library, so we are proud to announce the debut of new children’s programs developed by Mrs. Sonja and Miss Susan, called “Fred Fridays”.

This five week series features program themes focusing on the positive messages incorporated in the classic kids show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Each program is different and may include stories, games, activities, crafts and episode clips. Children between the ages of three and six are invited to participate.

We expect this to be a popular series, so registration is required. Program dates are November 2nd, 9th, 16th, plus two in December, the 2nd & 9th, 10-11 a.m. Come to just one or attend all five. You can register by clicking this link: Fred Fridays.

If you can’t attend our series, visit the library another time to play with our trolley, or search our online library catalog for books and DVDs to check out so you can take the Mr. Rogers magic home with you. Won’t you be our neighbor?
