Our mission at Rome First is Love God, Love People and Serve the World and our vision statement shows how we do this... "serving Rome by loving, and welcoming all as partners in transformation".

What to Expect

We are offering three different styles of worship during the season of Advent at Rome First. The worship schedule is below, but you can also find it here . We hope you find your way to one of our opportunities or even try all three throughout the season. Take time to invite someone to be a part of Rome First this Christmastime.

Worship "Preview" Schedule - November 27th - December 18th, 2016

8:45am "First Light" in the Historic Sanctuary
9:45am Sunday morning Sunday School Classes
10:50am "Worship on the Wilder Side"
 in the Wilder Center
11:00am Worship in the Historic Sanctuary

Early riser? Try "FIRST LIGHT" beginning at 8:45 AM. An informal/traditional service will feature familiar hymns, a time of corporate prayer, an inspirational message and the celebration of Holy Communion every Sunday. If that sounds like it would be "right up your alley" then join us at 8:45 AM and fellow followers in the historic Sanctuary.

Some folks like to get up just a little later - So, for the season of Advent, "Worship on the Wilder Side", our contemporary service, will be in the Wilder Center beginning at 10:50. This worship experience will be identical to its current style with praise and worship music, Crossroads Café, and engaging messages, only at a later hour.

The Traditional Worship experience held in the historic Sanctuary at 11:00 AM will continue to be held at 11 AM full of the beautiful surroundings, glorious choral music, grand organ accompaniment and rich traditions that make worship at Rome First a not to be missed weekly event.

Sunday School classes will start at 9:45am.

The transitions between these three worship experience will be "seamless and invisible" for you as a worshipper. The Pastors, staff, musicians and support personnel will work behind the scenes to continue to ensure that the worship experience is a sacred and meaningful experience - All about Glorifying God!

Mark your calendars and during the Season of Advent (November 27 - December 18) plan on attending one of the excellent opportunities to gather and glorify God through worship at Rome First.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES will be at 5PM & 11PM in the Historic Sanctuary. Candle Light and Communion at both services. Mark your calendar and start inviting your friends, neighbors, and family!

10am in the Wilder Center

The Advent wreath, four candles on a wreath of evergreen, is shaped in a perfect circle to symbolize the eternity of God. Four candles, one for each week in Advent, are used with one larger white candle in the middle as the Christ candle.

While the Advent wreath with its four candles did bring light to churches, it was not to illuminate the interior as much as to symbolize the coming of Christ. The Advent wreath began in the time of the Protestant reformer Martin Luther.

During each Sunday of the Advent season, we will focus on one of the four gifts Jesus brings us: Joy, Hope, Peace and Expectancy. The Christ candle represents LOVE and is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day reminding Christians that Jesus is the light of the world. The order, color of candles and exact wording vary among churches, but the wreath continually reminds us we are called to be followers of Jesus – by “re-gifting” the gifts Jesus brings as the Light of God’s Love into the world not only at Christmas but all through the year.
