April Volunteer Spotlight
Each month we will spotlight a Rome First volunteer. We are excited to bring this new feature to the newsletter. We are all called on to be the church and Rome First couldn't make it without⚡️its volunteers!
Amanda Hale

Amanda, with her three children, Penelope is 10 years old, Amelia is 7 years old and Lucy is 4 years old is a dedicated volunteer to Rome First UMC. She and her husband, Dr. David Hale, have been a part of the Rome First congregation since 2009. Amanda has lived in Georgia most of her life and attended The University of Georgia. She majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, where she and David met. They lived in Augusta while David attended medical school...a dream of Amanda's too, but "life", along with motherhood, superseded it. When they arrived in Rome, she was thrilled to stay home with the girls full time and became very involved with Rome First.

Currently, Amanda is one of the Kindergarten-1st Grade Sunday School teachers and has been for the past three years. She also has been a part of the strategic team of VBS, Chairperson of the Children's Ministry Leadership Team, a greeter on Sunday and a volunteer for various outreach ministries Rome First has been involved with (Jesus In The Park, Mission Blitz, Stop Hunger Now & Tomato Sandwich Supper.

Be sure to say "hello" to Amanda when you see her and thank her for being a great volunteer!
Technology for the Golden-Ager
Each month we will bring you a technology tip for you to use!

Technology isn't something to be afraid of, it's just gaining the knowledge of how it can be used to benefit you.

Christian Book Drive –

Christian Library International (CLI) is a Raleigh, North Carolina based ministry that sends Christian books, free of charge, to those who need it most desperately: the men, women, and youth locked inside our prison walls. CLI services over 1,000 U.S. prisons. The books that you donate reach open hearts ready to hear a message of hope and make the drastic changes that only Christ can bring. There are many testimonies in prisons of lives changed from reading, studying, hearing and viewing Christian materials. Instead of your books sitting on a shelf collecting dust, they could be changing lives.

A collection box will be located in the Wilder Center lobby until Sunday, April 30th, 2017. For information about CLI’s ministry go to
