Fall 2022 Newsletter

As the leaves turn color, nights become longer, and fires are being lit, autumn is the perfect time to nestle into a comfy chair with a good book!  It's the season of cool breezes, harvests, and nature takes on a more colorful appearance.  A good time to visit the library for books on apple and warming soup recipes, planning fall activities, or maybe decorating your house for the season.

The Friends of the Library put the wraps on its annual film festival and banned books week - we hope you were able to join us!  We're looking ahead to holidays, outings like the Holiday Stroll in December, and finding new ways for the community to engage with our Library.  Be sure to stop in to check out the Library's new entrance by the parking lot, or take in the lovely & colorful flowers planted by the Friends of the Library!

Local Women's Club Donates a Reading Bench
The Pompton Lakes Women's Club will dedicate an outdoor bench at the Library, during a ceremony to be held on Tuesday, November 1st at 3:00pm.  The bench will be a welcome outdoor place for community members to browse a newly borrowed book or access our free WiFi on their mobile device.  Thank you to the Women's Club for their thoughtful and generous donation!
Happy 110th Birthday Pompton Lakes Library!
The Pompton Lakes Public Library began as a gift to the people of Pompton Lakes from Mrs. Emanuel Einstein in memory of her late husband, who passed in 1909.  Mr. and Mrs. Einstein were residents of New York City and spent their Summers in  Pompton Lakes.  Mrs. Einstein supplied the town with the plot, building, equipment, and a stock of books, which were all dedicated in April of 1912 when the library first opened to the public.

As the library celebrates one hundred ten years of service to the community, it continues to offer a wide variety of books, fiction and non-fiction, as well as magazines, newspapers, and most recently, DVDs to the public.  The library also offers numerous programs for the entire community.  The Friends of the Pompton Lakes Library was established in 2016 to support and promote the library as a community resource.

110th Anniversary Pompton Lakes Library Calendar

In honor of the 110th anniversary of the opening of Pompton Lakes Library in 1912, The Friends of the Library have produced a commemorative calendar with images of the library over the years and facts about its use.  Purchase your copy of this 18 month calendar (beginning in July 2022) at the Pompton Lakes Library for $10.

2022 Summer Film Series - it's a Wrap!

On behalf of The Friends of the Pompton Lakes Library thank you for joining us on the library lawn for movies under the stars!  With the donation of a new indoor screen from ProjectorScreen.com, a Pompton Lakes business, we're looking forward to extending our film series indoors with a Murder/Mystery season running through the end of the year.
