Small Town, Big Sacrifice III
Wednesday, November 14th at 6pm
Join us as local author Paul Chepurko tells stories about the men and women from Oakland and Pompton Lakes who died serving their country..  Utilizing local newspapers, service records, school yearbooks and military documents, Paul has created a unique biography to honors lost servicemen and women.
Small Town Big Sacrifice is a tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in defense of their country or in the line of duty.
Our first Holly House Tour will be on Saturday, December 1st - in the afternoon before the town's Holiday Stroll and tree lighting celebration. Tickets for the self--guided tour, of four family houses around town, are $20 each ($15 for Friends Members), and will be available at the Library next week.                        Buy in advance, they'll be $25 on the day.
Proceeds to the Friends of Pompton Lakes Library.  All visitors must have a ticket, no-one under 12 will be admitted.
Pompton Reformed Church
Join Pompton Lakes Historic Commission at 10am on Saturday November 24th for a fascinating Walking Tour of Pompton Reformed Church and learn about its history and unique architecture.

Our "Tech Tuesday" workshop at 5-6pm is proving popular, although our resident expert sometimes has to skip a week due to other commitments.  So we're enlisting some extra help for your phone, tablet and laptop questions, and are hoping to widen the service to other times/days of the week.
We're still playing Mah Jongg on Tuesday afternoons. 

Come along at 2pm and learn more about this intriguing game of skill, strategy and calculation.
The Oakland/Pompton Lakes NJ Chess Club meets at the Library every Monday from 6pm to 9pm.  
Five chess sets and a clock are available, although players are encouraged to bring their own equipment as well.
Did you know the acclaimed and ground-breaking film director Cecil B. DeMille once lived in Pompton Lakes?  His final film, The Ten Commandments, was inspired by visits to Christ Episcopal Church.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of his death, we're hoping to show a series of his films in 2019.  Watch out for more details soon.
We meet at the Library on the first Wednesday of every month, usually at 6pm.
