A Newsletter from the UN & NGOs Designers Group Geneva
Visual Communicators Newsletter

This is a monthly newsletter from the UN Designers and Visual Communicators Group in Geneva. Drop us a line if you would like to collaborate or share any material in this newsletter:

Save the date!

We are thrilled to announce our next 7th UN Designers & Visual Communicators Lunch meeting on March 1 at 11am, hosted by ITU. For this occasion, Ross Thornley, from RT Brand Communications, will take us through the process of rebranding UN Volunteers, giving us some insights about the current state of visual identity and branding in international organizations. We'll share more information soon, but in the meantime book your place here (it's free!) stating your name and organization. Hope to see you all there!

Open data saves lives

How can we make thousands of datasets easily discoverable and accessible? OCHA embraced the challenge and, with Frog Design, combined human-centered design and open data to revolutionize disaster relief and save lives. Explore the platform and check out Frog's case study.

Adobe goes UX

Last Thursday, Joely Tafanalo from Toughmedia brought us up to date with all things Adobe at the last IDUG (InDesign User Group). Particularly impressive was the first take on Adobe XD, a prototyping design tool currently released as beta. You can find more information about this talk here. Oh, and if you don't want to miss out on the next IDUG meetings, Sophia Guetaneh is the person to contact.

February Inspiration
A movie
We can’t wait to watch Abstract: The Art of Design, Netflix’s eight-episode documentary series, beautifully shot in 4K HDR, about visionary designers who shape the world around us.
A Festival
Offset has something for every designer, no matter what your specialty is. Grab your ticket if you can and fly off to Dublin on February 17. Chemistry will be there showing this provocative campaign.
A magazine
Resist!, the newspaper of political comics and graphics done by mostly female artists and handed free at Trump's inauguration is now asking for submissions for its issue 2.
An event
The Graphic Design Festival hosts multiple exhibitions and talks until February 22. A perfect excuse for visiting the City of Lights once again and pass by exhibitions like Poster for Tomorrow.
A book
Reading Designing for Emotion yet again is never too much. Donald Norman recommends “15 minute sessions reading Aarron Walter’s book (...) three times a day”. Better follow the expert's advice.
An exhibition
Project 365 is a photography exhibition from one of our fellow creative members, Gilberto Lontro, whose vernissage will take place TODAY at La Galerie, in Geneva. Not to be missed!
