Each refugee counts

June 20th is World Refugee Day, One of many UNHCR actions across the year has been to compile a lot of their stats into The Refugee Project, an impressive data visualization tool. You can find information about this project and how to use it here. Has been designed by Hyperakt the design agency behind such an extensive work. Data for 2016 will be introduced this month for World Refugee Day.

Impactful presentation

Under the name 'Impactful Data Visualization' Benjamin Wiederkehr from Interactive Things delivered an exhaustive look at the creative process behind creating powerful infographics. Around 35 people from all UN agencies and university students participated in this our latest meeting to date. For those who could not attend, or would like to go back to the presentation, Benjamin has shared it with us and you can download the pdf from this link. We will resume our talks after the summer with new guests, this time focusing in print design.. stay in touch  and let us know about what would you like to treat in future meetings!

A hope more powerful than the sea

Started as one of the UNHCR tracks stories, then was transformed into this compelling TED talk by Melissa Fleming, chief spokesperson of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Then was transformed into a book,  and now no less than Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams will partner to take the incredible story of Doaa Al Zamel, a mix of love, loss and survival to the silver screen. Another proof that great storytelling like this can help opening the eyes about the tragedy of refugees to bigger audiences across the world.
