“Developing active cities: Global strategies and initiatives” to kick off 26th IAKS Congress 
What a great start on 5 November: The first session of the 26th IAKS Congress is devoted to international, national and local initiatives from around the globe. Experts will present global strategies and planning models to make cities better places for active living. Discover the IOC strategy on sustainable development. Learn about the “Global Active City Label and the Active Well-Being Initiative” which will be presented by TAFISA Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann.

The 26th IAKS Congress is the world’s leading international forum on the planning, building and operation of sports and leisure facilities. The goal of „Facilitating an active world“ will be explored as a focal point for communities of all sizes, and as a motivator for public policy at all levels of government. The conference programme will feature an international group of speakers providing innovative responses to the demanding challenges of funding development of new sports and leisure facilities that offer relevant, meaningful, and lifestyle-enhancing experiences to all members of the community. Presentations will look at global trends and constraints with the objective of addressing them at the community level.. More information on the IAKS Congress website:
1st InSport Multiplier Event in Lisbon, Portugal
The first multiplier event for the “InSport - Sport Inclusion: Full Participation in Sport by Persons with Disabilities” took place in Lisbon, Portugal on 25 September, reviewing the state of inclusion in sport in Europe and reviewing good practices and examples to promote and implement inclusion in education, health, sport clubs and municipalities. Read More...
Stay Tuned for the Results of TAFISA World Walking Day!
The TAFISA World Walking Day (WWD) took place on October 5-6 and drew in hundreds of thousands taking to the streets all over the world. More WWD events are still planned during the whole month of October, stay tuned for the results!
The WWD is open to citizens of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and genders, and can be hosted by every TAFISA member organisation and any interested municipality.
