Headteacher’s message:

Assalaamu alaykum Students, Parents, Carers and Staff

We pray you are all having a productive and blessed Ramadan so far. The holy month of Ramadan is not over yet and we ask Allah SWT to give us all courage to make the most of it.
We are currently half way through our exam season and wishing the best for all students undertaking GCSE exams this summer.
 

 

Dates for your diary
 

The last day of this half term is Friday 24th May 2019. The next half term will begin on Thursday 6th June 2019
The last day of this academic year will be Tuesday 23rd July 2019.
Throughout the holidays, the school will be open from 10.00-14.00 Tuesday and Wednesday, 9.30-13.30 on Thursday.

Eid Closure





Lady Aisha Academy will be closed to all pupils Monday 3rd June to Wednesday 5th June for Eid-ul-Fitr.

The first day back will be Thursday 6th June.


 

End-of-year trip to Thriftwood
 
We have sent home letters with pupils for the whole school end-of-year trip to Thriftwood Scout Campsite & Activity Centre taking place on Tuesday 9th July. Please kindly return the permission slip and £35 payment by Friday 7th June. Please contact the office if you would like further information regarding this trip.

Year 11



The Year 11 Leavers’ Assembly will take place on Tuesday 18th June 2019. The Year 11 class will then be taking part in their work experience placements for two weeks, from 24th June to 5th July. We bid them a fond farewell and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

Polite notice: Car Parking

Please could parents avoid from blocking the entrance to Victoria Road with their cars when dropping off their child and picking them up. Please be considerate to other road users as well as other parents trying to access the school. Thank you.
Summer Term Trips


Seabrooke Manor Care Home on 28th June - Art Open Day for Year 8
Big Bang Fair at Newham College on 4th July - whole school

Gilwell Park (residential) on 8th and 9th July - for Years 10 & 11 students who have chosen to attend
Thriftwood Scout Camp Site on 9th July - whole school
Parental Consultation Meetings
Parental consultation meetings will take place next term on the following dates:

Years 7 & 9: Tuesday 18th June 12:30pm – 4:30pm
Years 8 & 10: Thursday 27th June 12:30pm – 4:30pm


Please note that on these two days, school will finish at 12:00pm for all students as the parent meetings will take place in the afternoon.
Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair has raised £169 in FREE BOOKS for our school! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped at our book fair!

Ramadan Weekly Circles

We have been conducting weekly sessions in the Sports Hall for students to come together for reminders and extra worship for the blessed month of Ramadan. The Headteacher gives encouragement and advice for staff as well as students on making the most of Ramadan and collective Qur’an recitation takes place. Students also read from dua and dhikr books and are encouraged to make their own personal duas. Student assemblies have taken place, where students have spoken about relevant topics such as not wasting time during this blessed month.

Goldsmiths University - Years 9 & 10

The Years 9 & 10 classes took part in a university taster day at Goldsmiths University on Thursday 9th May. They had the opportunity to explore the campus and take part in a workshop organising an event.

Thorpe Park - Year 9

On Friday 26th April, the Year 9 class went to Thorpe Park as part of their Citizenship curriculum. The pupils organised the trip themselves to develop enterprise skills , and raised the funds to pay for the park tickets as well as transport.


Mental Health Awareness Week 13th – 19th May 2019

As part of staff training on Friday 3rd May, two members of the Inspirited Minds charity delivered a workshop regarding student and staff mental health. They covered mental health illnesses such as anxiety and eating disorders, as well as tips on how to maintain positive mental health physically, socially and spiritually.

Inspirited Minds is a Muslim faith based, voluntary mental health charity with the aim to raise awareness, combat stigmas and provide professional support to those with mental health illnesses. For more information, please visit their website: https://inspiritedminds.org.uk/
