Headteacher's message...

Assalamu alaykum,
We have arrived at the end of another term. Time moves so swiftly; we should endeavour to fill it with good deeds. I hope you all have an enjoyable holiday and may Allah (SWT) remove your difficulties and grant you all happiness in this life and the next. Ameen.

Visitors to the School

Lady Aisha Academy hosted Ms Lily Tang from the Cambridge Core Maths Support Programme who came in to do a presentation on Core Maths to year 9 and 10 and to speak to them about Maths related career options post 16.

Communtiy Engagement Officer Sultan Malik came to speak to Year 10s and 11s as part of their Sociology course about his role, projects he has organised in Barking and Dagenham and answered a Q&A session regarding careers in the police force.

We also hosted two brothers from Ummah Welfare Trust who came and did an assembly for the school regarding war torn and deprived countries, and children who are suffering in places like Syria. The school engaged in a fundraising competition, selling a variety of food, desserts and drinks to raise money for UWT. Alhamdulillah the total amount raised was a fantastic  £5,701.90

SCHOOL TRIPS WHICH TOOK PLACE THIS MONTH:

Year Group: 10s and 11s Date: Wednesday 8th March 2017 Subject: English Venue: Charles Dickens Museum in Russell Square.

We were given a tour of Charles Dicken’s home where we saw the lounge, kitchen, scullery, laundry room, dining room, Mrs Dickens’ room, drawing room, Dickens’s office, main bedroom, nursery and the servants’ rooms.
Then we went to the education room where we did the following activity. We were asked if we knew about any books by Charles Dickens and then went on to studying extracts from A Christmas Carol from Charles Dickens' drafts. We studied how Dickens described Scrooge and then went on to making our own description about him. The lady there was very proud of us.

Year Group: Year 9    Date: Tuesday 14th March 2017    Subject: Art           Venue: The Wallace Collection in Marylebone

On our day trip to the Wallace Collection, we had an interesting workshop about Islamic Art and its history. Later during the day, our instructor gave us an amazing tour of the most magnificent artefacts. We learnt about the owner of the collection, Richard Wallace and how he gave up his collection for the nation. The day was very educational and fun and we learnt about the history of Art.

Riddles of the Month

1. What belongs to you but others use it more than you do:

2. We travelled the sea far and wide. At one time, two of my sailors were standing on opposite sides of the ship. One was looking west and the other one east. And at the same time, they could see each other clearly. How can that be possible?
Answers: 1) Your name 2) The sailors had their backs against either ends of the ship.
Hadith of the Month

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I asked the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Who is the most excellent among the Muslims?"
He said,
"One from whose tongue and hands the other Muslims are secure."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
