Pray for our Elect & Candidates!

With Holy Week upon us, we encourage you and your parish and school communities to pray for the nearly 400 candidates and members of the elect in our Archdiocese involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults process this year as they prepare to enter the Church this Saturday at the Easter Vigil or to be confirmed at Pentecost.

"Been There, Done That"

National Gathering on Christian Initiation
July 5-6, 2017

For those involved in initiation ministry with adults, and whose parish budget for evangelization and catechesis might accommodate it, we recommend you consider attending the National Gathering on Christian Initiation, hosted by Liturgy Training Publications, which will be held July 5 - 6 in Chicago.

This will be a special opportunity to get together with others from across the country who are involved in catechumenal ministry.

For more information, visit the Gathering's website linked here.

Summer 2017
Certification Course Schedule

Summer is the perfect time for you and your teachers or catechists to take Office of Religious Education Certification Courses!

The Office of Religious Education is scheduled to offer two sessions of each of the eight basic Archdiocesan Catechist Certification Program (ACCP) courses at parishes and locations around the archdiocese.  With the option of either four sessions over one week or two sessions over consecutive Saturdays, there's one that fits your schedule.

For parishes looking to offer adult faith formation opportunities over the summer, think about advertising this to your parish community if you or a neighboring parish is hosting a course!

Find the full summer schedule here in this edition of MORE or on our ORE Website.

Summer Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership 2017

The Institute will also offer opportunities to hear from panels of archdiocesan leaders in Catholic education and formation and dive into case studies to bring back practical applications to your school or parish school of religion.

Office of Religious Education
North Shore Resource Library

Last week, our ORE Resource Library at the  North Shore Pastoral Center (4465 Hwy 190 East Service Rd., Covington) opened! Catechectical leaders north of Lake Pontchartrain and nearby now have a space they can visit to look at and or borrow books, assorted religious education textbooks, faith formation study programs, and other religious media.

Once a month, most often the first Friday of the month, a member of the Religious Education team will be at the Center all day to staff the library and be available to assist you and your needs.

Next month, Michael Whitehouse, Associate Director for Adult Catechetical Formation, will be at the Center on Friday, May 5th.

RESOURCE TIP

DISCOVERY MISSION
VOCATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Make your Vacation Bible School a VOCATION Bible School this summer with Discovery Mission, from Vianney Vocations and God Is Good VBS!

The goal of Discovery Mission is to let children know that God has a plan for their lives, educate them about Catholic vocations, and encourage them to say yes to Jesus!

Discovery Mission uses a traditional VBS format, with half-day lessons for five days. It’s designed for children in K-8, with teen helpers for the various formation stations.

Discovery Mission is every bit as fun and engaging as some of the “big players” in the VBS market. It’s 100% Catholic, and is focused on teaching kids about marriage, priesthood, and religious life.

Discovery Mission is not just good for kids, it’s good for the Church!  Director's Kits are $229.

For more information, visit Discovery Mission's website at www.vocationbibleschool.com.
