Science Fit Client Gives Family a Different Valentine's Day Gift This Year
Q&A with Science Fit client, Toni Weinmeister
 
How long have you been training at Science Fit?
Its been 4 Years, I'm a recovering Crossfitter :) I was skeptical at first but noticed a positive change in my body right away and haven't looked back. Within three months I was leaner and stronger. I even trained during the pregnancy of my third child. 
 
How did your life change after having your third child?
Significantly! Aside from adding another person to our family; I resigned from a stable 15 year career and started my own business. Change is exhausting but my energy level was at an all time low. I was getting an adequate amount of sleep but I was still irritable and my workouts suffered. My trainer mentioned that I might need to have my hormones checked. A simple blood test determined that I was NOT hormone fit. 
 
How long until you noticed changes from the Hormone Fit protocol?
Immediately! My energy level was the first thing I noticed followed quickly by SLEEP! The quality of sleep I receive now is amazing and I pop up out of bed at 5:30 a.m. with a great attitude ready for the day...which wasn't happening before...ask my husband :)
 
You said you're giving your family a different gift this Valentine's.
Can you explain?
I am a better me after becoming hormone fit. I am more attentive and much less irritable which are two of the best gifts I can give my children. Those gifts are good for my husband too but we all know what gift he is most excited about and he is getting A LOT more of it now that my hormones are "fit" :)

Roasted Chicken with Lemon and Vegetables

Serves 4-6

Ingredients
 

1 cut-up whole chicken (3 to 3 ½ lb)

1 lb of green beans*

1 onion, sliced in big wedges

2 carrots, cut in half lengthwise, then cut into 4 pieces*

4 celery stalks, cut in half lengthwise, then cut into 4 pieces*

2 lemons, 1 sliced and 1 juiced

1/3 cup olive oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon fresh thyme or rosemary; or 1 teaspoon Italian dry seasoning

1 ½  tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper


Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, mix oil, lemon juice, garlic, herb, salt, and pepper
  3. Arrange the veggies in a roasting pan. Pour half of the oil mixture and rub until the vegetables are coated.
  4. Place the veggies in the oven for 15 minutes.
  5. Place the chicken pieces into a large bowl with the remaining oil mixture and rub until all the pieces are coated. After the timer goes off for the veggies, arrange the chicken on top of the veggies with the legs and thighs along the edges of the pan.  Place lemon slices throughout the pan.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes or until the meat thermometer inserted into the thigh reaches 180 degrees.  Discard the lemon slices and serve.

*  Substitute with your favorite vegetables.
