Hello Fellow Marcher!

You have expressed interest in taking action following the Women’s March on Washington. Each Sunday evening moving forward we will be sending out these Quick Action Emails to help you mobilize during the week. We will also be posting these and other actions on our Facebook page as they come up. Should something urgent come up in the meantime, we may send a second email during the week, but we will try to keep it to once a week. Our action items are based mainly on the same grassroots tactics that were used by the Tea Partiers.

We urge you to take all the actions below every day until the deadline!

ACTION ITEM #1

Download and read the Indivisible Guide at https://www.indivisibleguide.com. We hope you read it and use it!

ACTION ITEM #2

Call your Senators to Oppose the Vote on Jeff Sessions - DEADLINE TUE 2/7

Kamala Harris: (202) 224-3553
Diane Feinstein: (202) 224-3841

The full Senate will proceed to a vote on Sen. Jeff Sessions’ nomination to be Attorney General. Jeff Sessions was rejected for a federal judgeship by the Senate in 1986 for being too racist, and he hasn’t gotten any better since. He’s spent his career making it harder for African Americans to vote, fighting against equal rights for women, minorities and LGBTQ people, and demonstrating consistent hostility to the rule of law and human rights. [Indivisible Guide]

Hello, my name is ______. I’m calling from [City]. I oppose the appointement of Jeff Sessions as United States Attorney General.

ACTION ITEM #3

Call your Senators to Oppose the Vote on Betsy DeVos - DEADLINE TUE 2/7

Kamala Harris: (202) 224-3553
Diane Feinstein: (202) 224-3841

Betsy DeVos, Trump's pick for secretary of education, has no experience with public schools. She's never worked as an educator or in a public school in any capacity. She didn't attend public schools, and did not send her children to public schools. DeVos has lobbied and bankrolled failed schemes like vouchers, which take money away from public schools to fund private schools at taxpayers' expense and with little to no accountability. Tell your senators that we need an experienced, qualified secretary of education who actually wants to strengthen and improve all public schools. Tell them to reject Besty DeVos.

ACTION ITEM #4

Call Senate Committee on Homeland Security to Oppose Bannon's appointment to the National Security Council (NSC)

Phone: (202) 224-4751

Senate Committee on Homeland Security is taking calls about Steve Bannon's appointment to the National Security Council (NSC). We’re told that they’re tallying calls. You might get a busy signal but try, try, try again all this weekend. Leave a message if you get through to voicemail. Be sure to tell the committee that you believe no individual whose primary responsibility is political in nature should be allowed on the NSC or authorized to attend its meetings. Partisan politics have no place in our national security. Tell them to remove Bannon’s influence.

TIPS

The most effective ways to take action:

  • CALL: Every day. Keep calling if you get a busy signal. Leave a voicemail.

  • FAX: If you can’t call, fax away!

  • WRITE: Write letters. As many as you can.

  • ATTEND: Go to your Congressman’s Town Hall Meetings, offices and office hours

  • MARCH: We will publicize opportunities for marches and events

The least effective ways to take action:

  • Emails, Tweets or Facebook posts, signing petitions. They do not work or are much less effective.
