Lent and Easter Programming

Lent is a time of preparation, self-examination, penitence, and special devotion for all Christians as we prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. Lent is an invitation to join together as God’s people, and to explore how we can shape our lives in the way of Jesus. It is a time of conversion, an intensification of the movement which is the spiritual rhythm of our lives: a continuous turning away from distractions and sin, and reorientation toward God. Join us in worship, mission, and ministry as we walk in the wilderness to prepare to celebrate the new life and good news of Christ’s resurrection. This season we remember God’s covenant of love that invites us to come together and be at Christ’s table.

seeking: honest questions for deeper faith
This Lent, we invite you to engage in the spiritual practice of seeking. We encourage you to stay curious, open, and nimble. We hope you will soften your assumptions and expand your perspectives. We pray that these questions will create a safe space to explore—to be drawn more deeply into the fullness of life, into the heart of God.

Join us for a discussion of the book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom,  Scientific Knowledge, and the Teaching of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer has been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. In Braiding Sweetgrass, Kimmerer brings these lenses of knowledge together to show that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. For only when we can hear the languages of other beings are we capable of understanding the generosity of the earth, and learning to give our own gifts in return. There is also a Young Adult version also available for discussion with youth.  Sign up online.
