Dates & Times Vary

Lent is a time to renew our connections to God and each other. This Lenten season we are asking all of our church members and friends to sign up for one 75 minute gathering at the church. We'll gather in small groups to get to know each other by answering 3 simple questions.

Jesus Christ Superstar Sing-Along
Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 7 PM
We’re bringing back our quirky and meaningful Holy Week tradition of an interactive showing of the 1973 film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. There will be crowd participation and (of course) sing-alongs. Dress up in your favorite 70’s garb, invite your friends, and spread the word! This event is a partnership between The Congregational Church, UCC and The Tryon Theatre.

Pic of the Week
A look into the life of the church

The Joy and Justice Book Club met for the last two Sundays to discuss the book "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. The group highly recommends it as a fantastic read that will change the way you think about the natural world and our place in it. If you would like to borrow a copy, contact Meghan or Lindsay.

Do you have a picture of something that you would like to share with the Congregation? Email it to Lindsay and we can share it as our pic of the week and continue to stay connected with each other.

Notes From The Church Dog
Because somebody has to run this church...
I have two favorite places to sit in the church. This is one of them. I get to watch everyone come and go, and run to the office door to greet them (sometimes a I'm a bit too vocal about it, but I'm just excited). If you didn't know, this is our church parlor. It's where we hold ministry team meetings and other gatherings such as our Getting To Know Us Again groups. I've been loving the Getting To Know Us Again groups. They're a great place to get lots of love from church humans. But, you also get to learn about folks, hear their stories, and ponder questions about our lives and faith together. It's all about connection and community. It's super fun, and I'm hoping get to know more of you at them. Make sure to sign up above.

Wishing you all the toys and pets,
Wally

'Trans youth lives matter': UCC leaders commit to love and justice in action amidst anti-LGBTQ bills
We are in the midst of a pivotal moment in our shared story. The well-being of transgender and non-binary youth is being debated in legislative sessions across the United States. As of March 3 there have been 385 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced, with 108 of these bills aiming to end gender affirming healthcare for trans and non-binary youth. This places more than 54,000 trans youth actively taking life-saving gender affirming medical care at risk. This is the highest number of anti-LGBTQ bills ever introduced in a single legislative season.
