It truly was "The Greatest Show" thanks to you and our incredible performers!
TASC is so grateful for the support of our Midsummer Concert Fundraiser, "The Greatest Show" that took place in July. This annual event allows for clients to perform song and dance numbers in front of a supportive audience of family members, friends, TASC staff, and community members. We are pleased to announce that we raised over 50% more fundraising income from last year bringing in over $22,000 to TASC!
During the Concert, we welcomed two political representatives that showed their support for TASC and our community.
From Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel's office, his representative Mayra Valadez presented an award to TASC staff member, Andy for his outstanding work for community outreach.
Senator Henry Stern also attended to show his support and spoke to the audience about the need to self-advocate for services for individuals with developmental disabilities. He reminded the audience we must continue to fight every year to ensure our voices are heard. Senator Stern also made time for some fun with a selfie with the audience!

Unfortunately, the video files done from another volunteer malfunctioned, therefore we will not have a video. We are working to gather footage from other sources.
This was the first year in a very long time TASC hosted a Silent Auction as a component to the event. It was a hit! Staff members, Andy and Kate, along with Board Member Linda Crisostomo and generous family members helped in gathering donated items and creating a beautiful display.
A thanks to the businesses that donated items to be auctioned off: Total Wine & More, Dave & Buster's, Gelson's, Universal Studios Hollywood, Benihana, Flappers Comedy Club, Huntington Library, LA Zoo, Los Angeles Chargers, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Los Angeles Angels, Poly-Med Pharmacy, Miami Dolphins, Pacific Theatres, Baja Fresh, See's Candies, San Francisco Giants, Matador Bowl, Trader Joe's, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Shoutout to Deanna Doran that coordinated all of the fantastic costumes for the evening from Western Costume Company. This is one of the oldest and largest costume companies in the world. Allowing the opportunity for the performers to have this experience was priceless and entirely donated by Western Costume. For future interest in renting costumes (Halloween is around the corner!) Western Costume Company has private rentals by appointment.

Save the Date for the next Family TASC Force!

Join us for the third Family TASC Force meeting on Wednesday, September 25 at 6PM within the TASC Lounge (16600 Sherman Way, Suite 240, Lake Balboa, CA 91406). This particular meeting will focus on how SSI benefits can be impacted when individuals start working. The presenters, Ibrahim Saab and Fatima Perez are from the Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy and are looking forward to explaining this topic and answer questions.
This meeting will also include resource sharing between family members, discussion of political advocacy, upcoming events, and an open forum to connect with one another and TASC.

Advocacy Update - Thank You Lunch for Senator Stern, Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian and Sal Rodriguez
Last week, TASC and multiple other agencies across LA came together for a special thanks to Senator Henry Stern, Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian and Sal Rodriquez (Southern California News Group) for their fight for rate reform. While this battle has been won, we will march forward as a community to ensure individuals with I/DD have the services needed to fulfill their greatest potential.
