Strategic Planning Committee Recommends Sugar Mill Primary Attendance Zone
After reviewing public feedback, the School Board's Strategic Planning Committee selected Plan D as the attendance zone recommendation for the new Sugar Mill Primary School. Final approval of the attendance zone will be considered by the full School Board on Nov. 17, 2020.

Previously, the committee selected four draft options and presented them in two public meetings and collected input from parents via an online survey. Plan D was the first choice of 65% of respondents.

The new Sugar Mill Primary School is scheduled to open in Fall 2021. Designed to relieve growing student enrollment at Central Primary and Duplessis Primary, the intent is that no other primary schools will be impacted.

Prairieville High School Mascot and Colors Narrowed to Two Choices
After reviewing public feedback from an online survey, the Strategic Planning Committee narrowed the potential mascot and colors for Prairieville High School from three to two choices: navy and green Hurricanes or the red, white, and blue Patriots.

A second survey is now available at to gather additional input before making a final decision. This will allow architects to incorporate colors and design into their work on the new high school, which estimated to open in the 2023-24 school year.
