Alan Perry at CES 2019

CFAX Tech Talk Host and eGurus Technology Tutor Alan Perry attended the massive 2019 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last week. His show ran a live broadcast from the event on January 12th 2019. Alan has sent us some great information on products he looked at.

One of Alan's favorite discoveries from CES was the WT2Plus auto-translating earbud. You put one in your ear, and the other one in the ear of someone else who speaks a different language, and just start talking to each other! They instantly translate 30 languages (including French-Canadian) and 86 dialects. Check out  TimeKettle.co

eGurus is your go to for help with smartphones and tablets. Here are some great iOS tips for our Apple users.

iPhone/iPad tip
Close multiple Safari pages by holding your finder on the double-square icon, instead of having to close them one-by-one.  On an Android phone, on Chrome, click on small box in the top-right with a number in the corner, then on three dots in the top-right, and then click on "Close All Tabs".

iPhone tip
If you've upgraded to iOS 12, you can now say "Hey, Siri, turn on the flashlight" (and the same to turn it off)

iPhone/iPad tip
See which apps you rarely (or never) use and might want to delete, by going to Settings, General, iPhone (or iPad) Storage.  (You may need to wait for a few seconds for it to load, but once loaded, you’ll be able to scroll through your list, with each app showing you when you last opened it. If you’ve never opened an app, it will read Never Opened.)
