Teacher Education Fellows Program Receives Additional $50k Gift from Sarah & Bob Jordan
We would like to thank Mrs. Sarah Cole Jordan '56 and The Honorable Robert Jordan, III for their gift to support the Sarah Cole Jordan Class of 1956 UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Endowment. Their support has allowed the SOE to continue to operate the Teacher Education Fellows program aimed at developing teachers as servant leaders within a diverse and global context by way of engagement in activities focused on service, leadership, and diversity and global awareness. North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning Wins Innovator Award for Outstanding Contributions to Math Ed in NC
Improving K-12 mathematics education is a critical challenge for educational practitioners, leaders, and researchers. Dr. Holt Wilson and his team of collaborators are creating a new model for statewide reform of mathematics teaching and learning through the development of and research on curriculum materials, teaching strategies, and professional development programming. UNCG STEM Teacher Leader Collaborative Brings Educators Together From Across NC to Participate in STEM Learning
More than 60 elementary teachers from across the state came together in the SOE building to participate in STEMergizing Saturday, a 3 hour long session on integrating STEM into their classrooms. The goal of this event was for regional educators to learn and grow together so that they feel supported to engage their students in robust science and engineering. Read more.

2019 Smiley Award: Call for Global Education Ambassador Nominations
The Smiley Award supports global educational opportunities for current undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Education. Undergraduate or graduate SOE students who serve as outstanding global education ambassadors through international or local engagement may apply for this award. Remembering Key Members of the SOE Community
GREENSBORO, NC — Dr. Lois Virginia Edinger, life-long teacher and advocate for education, passed away at the age of 93 on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Dr. Edinger was an exemplary professor of education at UNCG from 1962 until her retirement in 1988, and served as president of the National Education Association from 1964 to 1965.

Dr. Edinger established the Dr. Lois V. Edinger UNCG Teaching Fellows Endowed Program Fund with a testamentary gift of $25,000 to the UNCG Excellence Foundation, Inc. Her intention in making this gift was to help future teachers at UNCG get the best possible education in order to prepare them fully for the classroom. Through her teaching, leadership, advocacy, and devotion to the field, Dr. Edinger has made a positive and profound impact on the state and nation.

We welcome the following new members the John H. Cook Society who all have a desire to impact the lives of others by funding new and exciting initiatives in the School of Education. We thank them for their forward thinking and belief in making boundless opportunities possible!
