PPEERS Awarded $3.4 Million to Support Two More Cohorts; First Cohort to Complete Program This June
This externally funded program recruits and prepares educators to serve as institution leaders in eleven rural school districts, with the goal to create a strong principal pipeline to benefit these underrepresented, high-needs schools across North Carolina.

SELF Design Studio Visits Capitol Hill Maker Faire
Matt Fisher and Mike Renne represented UNCG's SELF Design Studio at the Capitol Hill Maker Faire and Panel Discussions in Washington, DC on June 12. The event was hosted by the Nation of Makers, a national nonprofit created to help support America’s maker organizations through community building, resource sharing, and advocacy within the maker movement and beyond.

4 out of the 10 new Guilford County principals and administrators are UNCG alumni: Tresha Layne, Shannon Peeples, Wesley Abe Hege, and Tina Johnson. Read more.
The Thomasville City Schools Board of Education named UNCG SOE alumna Dr. Catherine Gentry as the new superintendent for the school system on June 5, 2018. Read more.
Wanda Brown, UNCG LIS alumna and Director of Library Services at the C.G. O’Kelly Library at Winston-Salem State University, was elected the 2019-2020 ALA President in April 2018. Read more.
Tiffany Helton, a social studies teacher at Eastern Alamance High School and a UNCG aluma, was named the ABSS Teacher of the Year in May 2018. Read more.
