UNCG SOE Hosts AERA Research Conference Featuring National Leaders in Special Education
Faculty from UNCG, Virginia Tech, UW–Madison, and the University of Central Florida, joined by U.S. Department of Education officials, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation representatives, NC Department of Public Education Exceptional Children Division personnel, and frontline practitioners convened for the first-ever American Educational Research Association (AERA) Conference to identify innovative solutions to the longstanding special education teacher and leader workforce crisis. UNCG ELC Professor Completes Term as President of International Philosophy of Education Society
Kathy Hytten, Professor and EdD Coordinator in the Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations (ELC) Department, just completed her term as President of the Philosophy of Education Society (PES). This is an international forum that promotes the philosophic treatment of educational practice, policy and research, advances the quality of teaching the philosophy of education, and cultivates fruitful relationships between and among philosophers, philosophers of education and educators. Moss Street Partnership School (MSPS) Students Compete in NPR Podcast Challenge
Thanks to UNCG’s University Teaching & Learning Commons (UTLC), fifth-grade students from MSPS have a shot at having their self-recorded podcast air on National Public Radio (NPR). Their podcasts will be entered into the NPR Student Podcast Challenge. Students researched topics like bullying, religion, and women’s rights, and recorded an initial cut of the podcast on their iPads. Read more

Heritage Language Academy (HLA) Program Participants Received Certificates of Completion
On Saturday, March 16, 2019, 30 students and 19 parents received their certificates of completion for their participation in the Heritage Language Academy (HLA) program! The HLA program aims at developing bilingual connections for students by building upon their home language backgrounds, and invites parents to participate in bilingual home literacy and computer literacy activities. 37th Annual UNCG International Festival: Saturday, April 6 from Noon to 5 p.m.
The International Festival (I-Fest) is one of the largest events on campus! It's an exciting opportunity for UNCG and greater communities to celebrate diversity and foster multicultural awareness. The festival promotes cultural appreciation and understanding through music, food, exhibits, educational demonstrations, and live entertainment from all regions of the globe. Learn more.
UNCG's Science Everywhere 2019: Saturday, April 13 from Noon to 4 p.m.
Join us for this year's Science Everywhere festival, themed “Made in North Carolina”! This community event, part of the NC Science Festival, is a chance to explore biology and chemistry, math and technology, ecology and sustainability, art, and more. Learn more.
