Tuesday, September 10 - Board of Directors' Meeting

This month's Board of Directors meeting will be chaired by Zone 2 Director and 1st Vice-Chair, Martin Rubin, due to the Community Director and MVCC Chair, Elliot Hanna, taking a well-earned vacation. The Board welcomes stakeholders to attend and participate by expressing their opinions on the motions before them as each affects Mar Vista. In addition to the usual "pay the bills" motions, there are varying motions from changing the Los Angeles Municipal Code to informing residents of nearby proposed construction.

It is hoped that stakeholders attend this meeting and voice their support/opposition to each of the motions. By stakeholders speaking, the council will know how Mar Vista wants them to vote. So, please attend this 7pm meeting at the Mar Vista Recreation Center.

Motions include:

15.1 [Seretti] Support for proposed changes to L.A.M.C. 41.18
Discussion and possible action regarding support of Los Angeles City Councilperson Mitch o"Farrell's (CD13) proposed changes to Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) Section 41.18 as defined in Los Angeles City Council File No. 19-0602-S1.

15.2 [Stakeholder] motion in opposition to development at 11700 Charnock Road
Discussion and possible action regarding a stakeholder motion in opposition to the development at 11700 Charnock Road

15.3 [PH&S] Increased community engagement from LAPD
Discussion and possible action regarding a request for increased presence and community engagement from LAPD.

15.4 [T&I] Centinela Blvd. Street-Sweeping Services in Zones 3 and 6
Discussion and possible action requesting that CD 11 assign the "clean and Green Team" to clean up Centinela Blvd. between Palms Blvd. and National Blvd. until regular street sweeping service can be established.

15.5 [Outreach] Outreach to Stakeholders Regarding Proposed Construction
Approval of an appropriation not to exceed $1,000 for door hangers - including distribution costs - to inform stakeholders of proposed construction project (not that PLUM passed a competing item not to exceed $500).

Learn more about these motions by downloading and reading the Meeting Packet. Come to the meeting informed. Make your voice part of the public record! Have questions or concerns? Consider contacting a Board member to discuss the matter. Participate and affect your community in a positive direction.

Wednesday, September 11 - Great Streets Subcommittee

Michelle Krupkin, Zone 5 Director and 2nd Vice-Chair holds the 6:30pm meeting at the Mar Vista Library. She is expecting Hannah Levien, CD 11 West LA/Mar Vista Field Deputy, to provide an update on the Venice Blvd. Downtown Mar Vista Gateway Signage project.

Also on her agenda are discussions (with possible motions) regarding the Pavement Mural Great Street project at Grand View and Pacific Avenues as well as the Mosaic Hopscotch project in front of the Library. Other discussions (with possible motions) include the "Arts District" status and a Mar Vista Business Initiative and current inventory of the empty storefronts on "Great Streets" Venice Blvd.

Please visit the Great Streets Subcommittee web page for more information, agendas, and the minutes of prior meetings.

Sunday, September 15 - Disaster Seminar & Workshop

Come join this-FREE for Mar Vista stakeholders-Workshop sponsored by our own Emergency Preparedness Subcommittee.

Did you know that the U.S. Geologic Survey now says that Los Angeles has two "Big Ones?” The first is the long-overdue eruption of the San Andreas Fault, and the other would be from the much closer Inglewood-Newport Fault.

If you want, email to let us know that you are coming - Disaster Seminar & Workshop

If not, join us anyway for this very important workshop! What you learn could save the life of someone you love!
