Little Family,
The last month has brought so many wonderful moments as our community has come together and ensured that we are getting this school year off to a great start!

Thank you so much to everyone who has come to join us for our community events!  This RISE Night was the best one yet, as we worked to connect with families and to make sure you left with all the tools to support the connection to learning at home.  It was wonderful to see you all and to spend this evening together.

The Community Fair and Market was another great opportunity to celebrate the many talents of our families!  There were so many great things and it was fun to see how many amazing things that our families create.  I hope you will all come out to join us on October 7th and 14th, as well!

While we have always been a community that circles around one another, we now have the added opportunity to circle around our greater community.  I hope that you will join us on October 13th from 6:00-7:30 for Community Conversations at Little.  This will be an opportunity for Little families to learn more about the potential consolidation, meet Parr families, and talk about a shared vision for our school and student experience if the consolidation moves forward.  Interpretation services, food, and childcare will be provided.  This is not an easy time for our colleagues and neighbors at Parr.  However, I know that meeting you and seeing what a welcoming and caring community we are at Little will make this potential transition easier for them.

I look forward to a great fall season as we watch the colors change and our children grow.

In Partnership,

Julie M. Waage, EdS
Principal, Little Elementary School

October 13, 2022, 6:00 to 7:30 pm
at Pomona High School
The 5th Grade Band and Orchestra will perform a concert on October 11th at 7:00 pm at Moore Middle School. This will be our first concert of the year and the students are so excited to perform for you! Students should arrive by 6:30 pm and meet in the Moore gymnasium.

Mr. Matt has been a Little Legend for over a decade.  Each day, he has worked tirelessly to make sure that our kids are loved and fed.  He knows each child by name, strength and need.  His dedication to Little has grown over the years and he has often passed up opportunities for promotion because he could not bear to leave our Lynx.

Recently, a great opportunity presented itself and Mr. Matt has accepted the Kitchen Manager position at Pomona High School where he will be able to continue to serve our Little Alumni!  We will miss him terribly, but are so excited that he has accepted this well deserved promotion.  Tomorrow, September 9th, will be him last day at Little.

We wish him well on this next adventure!

PTA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Our PTSA (parent teacher student association) is looking forward to welcoming new members who are interested in getting involved with Little and supporting our larger community!

The library is in full swing as it has had every student has had the opportunity to  check out library books:
Students come once a week to the library to return and find new books. We have over 350 brand new books for students to engage in!

Kindergartener checkout 1 book,
Grades 1-3 checkout 2 books
Grades 4-5 checkout 3 books.

Please have a conversation with your students that:
  • Books need to return to the library every week to check out new books.
  • The best place to put library books is in their backpacks so they travel with them if they have more than one household, the books come to school everyday and are safe from little siblings and pets.
  • Please do not eat and drink while reading your books
There will be an automatic reminder of what books each student has checked out on Sunday nights, if there are any questions surrounding this email please reach out. The best way to contact Ms. May is through email
