Arrival at School/Health Screening
As the students enter the school each day your child will be asked “Are you currently sick with a cough, sore throat, or runny nose?” and their temperature will be taken. Any person who does not pass the symptom question OR has a temperature of 100.4 or over will be moved to a medical safe room where they will be re-screened and supported until a parent/guardian picks them up.
Please talk with your child so that they understand the question they will be asked and what to expect as they come in each day. 

Due to concerns for health, nobody outside of staff and students will be allowed to enter the school building
Attendance for Remote Learning
(ongoing remote learning, or, for any instance where in-person learning moves to an instantaneous remote-learning venue):
  • It is imperative that students access remote learning daily by participating in synchronous (i.e., being online at the same time as the teacher and/or classmates) experiences as well as by completing assignments.
  • It is an expectation that students participate in all synchronous sessions throughout the school day.
  • Students are expected to complete all assignments which are given by teachers each day.
  • Students receive grades based on Colorado Model Content Standards.  In addition, the Colorado Department of Education requires that schools meet a certain amount of instructional minutes over the course of an academic year. 
  • If your student is ill and will NOT be able to access remote learning, please call the attendance line at the school where your student is enrolled to indicate the absence.  As with in-person absences, the student must be called in each day they are unable to participate in learning due to illness.  
  • If your child does not continue to engage throughout the school day, it may be considered a partial absence (e.g., if they participate in the morning sessions, but do not return for afternoon learning, it would be a half-day absence).    
  • In summation: your child’s attendance is tracked based upon their presence in all their virtual classroom meetings and lessons, both AM and PM. Their classwork completion (giving it their best effort on daily assignments) will be used to determine grades based on the Colorado Model Content Standards and will be reflected on their report cards. Call if your child’s school attendance line each day your child is too sick to learn.
Learning Venue Change Request
As you may have heard from our district, families can request a transition between in-person and remote learning at various intervals during the school year.  At the elementary level, the next opportunity for consideration for transition is at trimester (early November).  As you might expect, making student transitions that far into the school year can be challenging, especially as it requires not only a change in instructional delivery, but also a change of classroom teacher.  Further, due to the staffing logistics within our schools supporting both in-person and remote, we are incredibly limited in our ability to readily move students between venues.  If you decide by trimester that your student would benefit from a change (to in person or to remote), the Pomona Area Principals will review each request collaboratively and make a case-by-case decision by November 3rd.  Again, due to our limits in terms of staffing and ensuring that we maintain safe and manageable class sizes, we will prioritize students with health concerns when making these transition decisions.  A link to a form to submit requests for transition will be coming in late October.
Flex Day Testing
Typically, these assessment days occur in late August. but they have been moved back because of the delayed school year and a revised district/state assessment window.

These days function as they have always in the past: a non-contact day for teachers, as educators will be conducting acedemic assessments of all students over the course of two days.  Students "attend" school by appointment only.

For Fall 202, all Little Elementary students will be tested remotely.  Look for communication directly from your child's teacher to schedule an appointment.

Important note for remote learners.  Remote students will attend Fles testing days basd on where the remote classroom teacher officially on staff. Please contact your child's teacher if you are undure about when Flex testing will occur for your student.
