#BetterTogether
February 1, 2022

Little Community,

Each staff member chose a “word of the year” this year.  This is a word to focus their energy, to help give grounding, or to remind us of what is important as we enter into 2022.  My word for this year is Optimism!  As we are beginning to get settled into this year, I am very optimistic about all that it will bring.

I am optimistic that we will be able to engage in more frequent opportunities to come together as a community.  (Weather put a damper on this first one, but I will not give up!) We have enjoyed having our WatchDOGS back to help us out in the building and out at the crosswalk!  We are excited to be reconnecting with in-person family engagement opportunities, and to celebrating a year of growth and connection with one another.

Within the school building, I knew that this year would be a challenging year given the inconsistencies of the COVID year(s).  Our team, with your amazing partnership, have taken students and seen them grow so much, both academically and socially, over the past five months!  Our mid year data is showing that students are regaining their decision making and relationship building skills.  They are growing in self regulation and self management.  Student growth in literacy has been outstanding. Our students are excitedly making leaps and bounds with their academic growth as their confidence soars!

We are entering into the time of year we look ahead to next year.  We will continue to give you staffing updates as we go, but wanted to start off with a retirement announcement!  After decades of serving her students, Mrs. Luanne Virkus will be retiring at the end of this year.  This will allow her some more time to focus on herself, her husband, and their beautiful family.  In the upcoming weeks and months, we will update everyone on other staffing changes so that you all are able to be a part of our celebrations of their next adventures, and can help with setting priorities that will guide the selection of future hires.

We look forward to seeing you this week for RISE, albeit virtually, and for many more connecting opportunities to come!

In partnership,
Julie Waage

Library & Technology
Reminder: Every week students come to the library for book checkout. If students are not returning their books each week they are not able to check out new ones. This is hard on students as they watch their classmates get new books. Please refer to the library website for the day your student's class goes to the library. Teach students to keep their books in their backpacks so they come to school every day especially if they are traveling between homes.
DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

This month’s digital citizenship topic is Relationships & Communications.

Students reflect on how to build positive relationships, avoid risky online talk, and understand why some topics and conversations can best lend themselves to certain mediums.
Motto:  We know the power of words and actions.

COVID INFORMATION
Dear Jeffco Families,

This is a reminder that if your child has any signs of illness, please keep them home until all symptoms have resolved or are improving. Please call your student’s absence into the school's attendance line each day. If your child's symptoms do not resolve within 48 hours from the START OF SYMPTOMS:

DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

HAVE YOUR CHILD TESTED FOR COVID-19
● A PCR test remains the most accurate form of testing and is recommended.
A follow-up PCR test will be required if the individual tests negative with a rapid test and has COVID symptoms.
● To find a current testing site: 211 colorado
● Contact your district RN immediately with positive test results.
● Once a child has tested for COVID-19, the child and all siblings must remain at home until the test results have been
received, EVEN IF THE STUDENT IS FEELING BETTER.
● If the COVID-19 test is POSITIVE, the child will follow Home Isolation for 10 days.
● The child may return to school when symptoms are resolved or resolving AND
● the child has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

OR

FOLLOW HOME ISOLATION
● 10 Days following symptom onset AND
● 24 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications
● May return on the 11th day

Please reach out to your medical provider with any questions or concerns regarding your child’s illness.
*If your child has a history of known allergies, please submit a medical provider note to your district RN stating what your child’s baseline symptoms typically look like. This will help the district RN to distinguish your child’s allergy symptoms with possible COVID-19 symptoms.*

How to help Little Elementary receive donations
when you shop at King Soopers
The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.

One of the ways in which we do this is through our King Soopers Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:

1. Create a digital account.

A digital account is needed to participate in King Soopers Community Rewards. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.

2. Link your Card to an organization.

Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the King Soopers Community Rewards selection on your digital account.

1. Sign in to your digital account.
2. Search for your organization here.

3. Enter the name or NPO number of the organization you wish to support.
Organization Name: Little Elementary PTSA
 NPO#: EY318
4. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
Your selected organization will also display in the King Soopers Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.

3. Your organization earns.

Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. King Soopers donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating King Soopers Community Rewards organizations.

If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service Center.

Whether you’re a customer or an organization, get started today!

Note: If you are a customer, make sure you have a preferred store selected to view participating organizations. If you are applying on behalf of an organization, please select a store in the same area as your organization.
