Little Community,
One of the most amazing things about our Little Community is how everyone comes together!  I am so appreciative of all of the individuals within our community who have found innovative and meaningful ways for us all to connect as a community and work to support our students.

Thank you to all who attended RISE night in September!  RISE is a wonderful opportunity to grow as a community and to partner together to support student learning.  Families worked together to learn about what is going on in classes, how to support learning at home, and set goals for student growth.  This incredible evening was filled with laughter, fun and learning.  It was incredible to be together again!

As we are digging deeper into learning, students are being asked to be creative in their demonstration of learning, to make real world connections, and to take on the role of author, mathematician, scientist, and researcher.  Students are working on building their vocabulary, and using academic language.  They are exploring and testing hypotheses.  They are challenging themselves in taking on more challenging tasks… and they are so proud of it all!

As we enter October, it is not uncommon to hit a slump and it is a little harder to get your child to talk about their day.  Consider this list of questions to ask your child to help dive deeper into conversation about their day, and to support their social and academic connections with school!

As always, we are so appreciative of your partnership and support and want to be sure that we are connecting with you.  Be sure to reach out to your student’s teacher if you have any questions, or just want to know more about what is going on in class.  Parent teacher conferences are October 6th, if you would like to connect with your student’s teacher about any particular concerns.  And we would love to have you come and join one of our parent groups!  PTSA, JEDI, PIE and the Little Sprouts Community Garden are all wonderful ways to be engaged in our school community and to connect with other families.  We hope to see you there!

SCHOOL EVENTS
FIELD DAY

We are so excited for field day coming up this Friday! The weather is cooling off and it should be perfect for our events.  With the cooler weather, however, we are also expecting some rain over the next couple of days.  Our field might be a little soggy, so please consider sending an extra pair of socks in your kiddo's backpack on Friday.

Also, we are grateful for all of those who have volunteered to support this event.  While it is l;last minute, we have made a change to our guidelines and are opening up to spectators for this event for the outdoor events only.  We are still hoping to limit the number of visitors at any given time so please consider coming for an hour or two during a portion of the day (morning or afternoon) so that all individuals can enjoy the day without overcrowding.

Thank you all for your amazing support of our Little Community!
National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

The 2021–2022 Reflections theme is I Will Change the World By…

Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music

Library & Technology
Dear Families,

Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month?  With the rapid increase of digital devices in our TechForEd 1:1 program and use of social media platforms across the board, there has never been a better time to engage in meaningful conversations around mindful technology use.

During the month of October, many of our 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade classrooms will engage in digital citizenship learning related to Cyberbullying, Digital Drama, and Hate Speech. Unfortunately, many students will encounter mean behavior at some point in their digital lives.  Some of these experiences are easily forgotten, while others can have deep, long-lasting effects. For families, the key is staying involved in your children's lives -- both in the physical and online worlds -- so you can step in and offer help, if necessary.

This month, you can help your child(ren) learn how to avoid the drama and stand up for others by using these resources:

Monthly Motto: We are kind & courageous.

Discussion Question for School and Home: How can I connect positively, treat others respectfully, and create a culture of kindness?

FAMILY CONNECTIONS
A Note From Our Family Engagement Liaison

Dear Little Families,
Last winter I was given the opportunity to join the staff as your Family Engagement Liaison.  At the time, this job was intended to last through the end of the last school year.  With that in mind, i began planning my own journey as a business owner.  As new developments occurred, I continued with this role believing I could do both until the summer of 2022.  While this seat has been the most rewarding experience of my professional life, it has also delayed the achievement of my own personal goals.

The time has come for me to hand the baton over to someone else.  The decision to vacate this position has been bittersweet.  While I work to prioritize my own ambitions and family, I will miss working with our community from this seat.  It has been a great honor and privilege walking alongside my teammates and getting to know many of you personally.  As far as our students go, they have forever touched my soul.  the idea of saying goodbye to many of the kids brings tears to my eyes and I struggle to prepare myself for that moment.  Life within these hallways is different and I will miss working with you all.

My last day in service will be October 14th.  I vow to spend my remaining time working towards a smooth transition and I am confident that our leadership will select an amazing candidate to replace me.  If you or someone you know is looking for work, encourage them to review Job #14633 and apply.

My experience here will not be forgotten.  You haven't seen the end of me! I look forward to returning to Little simply as a parent where I can continue to offer my time as a volunteer in service.

Thank you for putting your confidence, patience, and trust in me.

In partnership,

Jenn Braun

How to help Little Elementary receive donations
when you shop at King Soopers
The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.

One of the ways in which we do this is through our King Soopers Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and swipe your Shopper’s Card. Here’s how it works:

1. Create a digital account.

A digital account is needed to participate in King Soopers Community Rewards. If you already have a digital account, simply link your Shopper’s Card to your account so that all transactions apply toward the organization you choose.

2. Link your Card to an organization.

Selecting the organization that you wish to support is as simple as updating the King Soopers Community Rewards selection on your digital account.

1. Sign in to your digital account.
2. Search for your organization here.

3. Enter the name or NPO number of the organization you wish to support.
Organization Name: Little Elementary PTSA
 NPO#: EY318
4. Select the appropriate organization from the list and click “Save”.
Your selected organization will also display in the King Soopers Community Rewards section of your account. If you need to review or revisit your organization, you can always do so under your Account details.

3. Your organization earns.

Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. King Soopers donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating King Soopers Community Rewards organizations.

If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service Center.

Whether you’re a customer or an organization, get started today!

Note: If you are a customer, make sure you have a preferred store selected to view participating organizations. If you are applying on behalf of an organization, please select a store in the same area as your organization.
