Booming Beer Tourism

Does your destination have craft breweries or do you represent a craft brewery? If the answer is yes, check out the Beer Marketing & Tourism Conference (BMTC) taking place at The Riverside Hotel in Boise, March 26-28.

BMTC serves two needs:

1. It provides actionable information about the important and growing functions of beer marketing and tourism for you to take home and apply to your local offerings.
2. It provides a forum for meeting your fellow leaders in the beer and tourism industries.

Subjects to be covered include marketing, sales, driving consumers to your region or business (tourism), tap room management, events, beer tour operators and much more.

 

Complete the Hospitality Training Needs Survey

We need your input!

During the 2018 statewide Tourism Tours we received feedback that destinations could benefit from hospitality training. In response, Idaho Tourism is participating in a Hospitality Training Needs Assessment survey in cooperation with the Clearwater Economic Development Association. We encourage you to share your opinion of current hospitality training needs by completing the short, online survey here by March 29. We estimate the survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Thank you for your participation!

Idaho Tourism Tours coming to a town near you

The Idaho Tourism team will host regional meetings beginning March 5 in each of the state's seven travel regions. Please plan to attend the meeting closest to you to hear what's going on in your region and learn about Idaho Tourism's marketing efforts. Presentation topics include grant updates, international co-ops, the Hospitality Training Needs Assessment Survey, and Idaho Craft Beer Month, among other things. You'll also get a sneak peak at Idaho Tourism's upcoming web series Epic Idaho, and hear about co-op media opportunities and research, website updates and travel research specific to each region.

Statewide tourism industry businesses, destination marketing organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureaus, outfitters, attractions - anyone who is a part of Idaho's Tourism industry - is invited to attend. We hope to see you there!

Idaho craft beer month

Idaho Craft Beer Month returns for the third year in April 2019! This month-long celebration of craft beer acknowledges all the partners, including breweries, producers, distributors and restaurants, that make this industry thrive in Idaho and encourages beer lovers to visit local breweries and experience Idaho craft beer. 

If you are a member of the craft beer industry, join in the April festivities by hosting events or participating in official Idaho Craft Beer Month events, like Pints Up Idaho. Other events can be submitted here.

Destinations, Chambers of Commerce, Regional Travel organizations and anyone in the tourism industry can help by elevating the local activities on social media using the official hashtag #pintsupidaho and letting visitors know what's happening when you chat with them.

Identifying TRAVELER PERSONAS

Every traveler and destination is unique. The modern traveler is looking for special experiences to add to their personal collection of adventures, ranging from eccentric museums to plush spa getaways. So, throw out the one-size-fits-all marketing plan and start targeting key segments using traveler personas to guide your strategy.
 
Using platform insights, Pinterest recently identified six traveler personas to consider when marketing your destination. Any one or a combination of these personas can fit your destination and attract new visitors.
 

• The Group Vacationer: Values spending time with friends, family and others
• The Culture Chaser: Values learning about local culture and history
• The Spa Sojourner: Values rest and relaxation
• The Adventure Lover: Values being active
• The Eating Explorer: Values a good dining experience
