Emergence welcomes new client, AVC Diagnostic Services
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) Diagnostic Services at the University of Prince Edward Island is the latest company to join Emergence. AVC Diagnostic Services offers quality veterinary laboratory testing and services across eight laboratory sections including Bacteriology and Mycology; Biochemistry, Special Chemistry, and Immunology; Endocrinology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring; Hematology, Cytology and Coagulation; Necropsy, Histopathology, and Immunohistochemistry; Parasitology; Toxicology; and Virology and Molecular Testing encompassing terrestrial, aquatic, and wildlife species. - (story).

BioPort 2022 is November 2-3 BioNova will host its 21st annual Bioport in Halifax November 2nd & 3rd, with the Bioinnovation Challenge semi-finals on November 1st. The theme for this year's conference is "A Path to Growth" (register).
CASTL opens new biomanufacturing training facility The Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL) officially opened its new CASTL biomanufacturing training facility located in Charlottetown. The new training facility has state-of-the-art pilot-scale bioprocessing equipment allowing employees to gain practical skills that are immediately transferable to process scale-up and clean room environments (story). Applications open for PEI Ignition Startup Fund Applications are now open for Innovation PEI’s 2022 Ignition Startup Fund competition, which offers up to $25,000 to launch or expand a business in Prince Edward Island. The Ignition Fund is a competitive based fund for entrepreneurs seeking start-up capital for a new innovative business venture or to develop and launch a new innovative product (apply).
NPC seeking bio-based innovations Natural Products Canada is seeking bio-based innovations from the Canadian start-up and research community that may benefit from their upcoming events, initiatives, programs and services, including potential sources of capital and opportunities to connect with strategic partners such as investors and customers (details).

Breathe Biomedical and SomaDetect participated in the Atlantic Venture Forum in September. The Forum provides early and growth-stage companies visibly to leading private equity and venture capital investors from across North America.
Clinical Trials Day Clinical Trials Day 2022 is November 14th, offering an opportunity for health sector stakeholders to engage and learn about Clinical Trials in Atlantic Canada. The day will highlight what it means to patients, clinicians, industry and government to have a strong clinical trials ecosystem and what it can mean for access to care and the economy in Atlantic Canada (details).
Health Research Week Health Research Week is November 14-18, 2022, an in-person event in Fredericton, New Brunswick and virtual program. The theme is "Advancing New Brunswick: Using Research to Optimize Impact (details).
BioTalent Canada launches NOS for Canadian bio-economy
BioTalent Canada has launched their first 52 national occupational standards (NOS) for Canada's bio-economy, along with 23 summary profiles. These NOS profiles outline what skills, education, and credentials are required to perform specific roles (story). They also recently launched a Science of Talent podcast (listen).

Alpha Cognition announces results from pivotal study Alpha Cognition had positive results from its pivotal bioequivalence study with ALPHA-1062, a proprietary, delayed release oral tablet formulation in development for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s Disease (story).
CAT has a new partnership with Arctic Charr producer CAT will build a customized genetic improvement program with Arctic Charr producer Icy Waters (story). CAT was a semi-finalist in the Global Seafood Alliance's 10th Annual Global Aquaculture Innovation Award and presented at Sea the Future, Aqua Expo and Aquaculture Europe. Chinova Bioworks opens new manufacturing space Chinova has a new manufacturing suite in the Bioscience Manufacturing Incubator (BMI) in PEI (story). They are a semi-finalist in the 2022 Canie Awards - Entrepreneur of the Year. They are participating in Supply Side West and earlier, took part in Natural Products Food Expo East. CEO Natasha Dhayagude was featured in webinar and a Citizenship and Immigration Canada video (view). Natasha was named a finalist in the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
Pegasus Biotech establishes student scholarship Pegasus Biotech Inc. has created a scholarship for bioscience students in PEI. The Pegasus Biotech scholarship for bioscience will provide two $1500 scholarships to UPEI and/or Holland College students studying in a bioscience related field (details).
Natures Crops partners on plant-based omega powder Natures Crops International (NCI) has partnered with CoreFX to launch a plant-based omega powder (story). NCI has also achieved B Corp status which recognizes that they have met high standards and rigorous requirements of becoming a B Corp in the areas of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency and across five key categories – governance, workers, community, environment and customers (story).
RPS Biologiques secures exclusive distribution agreement RPS closed an exclusive distribution agreement for its SupratectTM product with Stim Chile (story). In September, they participated in the International Symposium on Aquatic Animal Health (ISAAH).
