Decent Work and Health Network

Thank you for attending last night's event. This fall we are working to build leadership among students at University of Toronto and Ryerson, and will be hosting an Advocacy 101 in October. See event details below:

For those of you who may be new to our work, here is some information about what activities we have been engaged in over the summer:

We  recently made a submission in response to the Changing Workplaces Review's call for feedback in response to Personal Emergency Leave provisions. This fall we will continue to examine health literature and consult with impacted communities to ensure that we can offer viable suggestions to this process with the ultimate goal of ensuring that all Ontarians have access to Decent Work. Thus far we have had three main asks of the government:
  • To ensure that there are paid sick days for all workers in Ontario
  • To ensure that there is job protected leave for all
  • No more sick notes
Upcoming Events:
In October there will be a week of events leading up to the International Day for Decent Work. We would like to encourage as many of you as possible to come out to the rally for Decent Work on October 1st. Thank you for joining our network. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events that are listed below!

Panel Discussion

The Decent work and Health Network will be at Ryerson University hosting a panel discussion featuring health care professionals who will share their experiences exploring the intersections between health promotion and advocacy.

October 5th

Precarious work and health: walking the talk in health care organizations

An event hosted by the Centre Talks committee from the Centre for Urban Health Solutions, St. Michael’s Hospital, and the Decent Work and Health Network. This event will include speakers from the DWHN.

October 1st

Rally for Decent Work at Queen's Park 12-3pm

Join the Decent work and Health Network, the Workers Action Centre & many more groups, as we rally together in a call for safe working conditions, decent hours, paid sick days & vacation, access to a union, $15 minimum wage, & much more!
