Organizing for Decent Work and Health in 2017

2017 is an important year where health workers can advocate for significant changes that will support all workers in Ontario for decades to come. With the Changing Workplaces Review final report scheduled to be released in February 2017, we are encouraging all health workers to add health activism to their list of resolutions for 2017.

Here are some concrete things that you can do to help make 2017 the year for Decent Work:
  • Schedule a presentation for you and your colleagues to learn more about Precarious Work & Health outcomes. Email: to book a session
  • Join the DWHN Steering Committee and be an active participant in planning and implementing our policy change strategy for 2017. There is a group in Toronto that meets next on January 17, 2017 @ 5:30pm and a new group forming in Hamilton that will be meeting on January 25, @ 5pm. Email for more information about how to get involved.
  • Arrange a MPP visit for 2017 and encourage your MPP to support DWHN campaign demands for paid sick days, increasing the minimum wage, and to make other amendments to the Employment Standards Act to address precarious working conditions. If you want to join DWHN to arrange a meeting contact us at
  • To sign our petition for paid sick days and forward the petition to 5 other health workers so that we can grow our movement. Click here to sign
