Welcome to Issue 4 of DH News: The Dented Halo!
The 31,000 days of March are finally over and we don't yet know what April will bring. Trying times, indeed. Teaching online, working from home, social isolation and a new appreciation for what is an essential service to keep our society running, all in an effort to "flatten the curve" and not overwhelm our health care systems.
I contributed a video of poem to an #InternationalPoetryCircle on Twitter, Mary Oliver's most popular poem, which you can find here https://twitter.com/daniel_hudon/status/1239402939195764736. And between the isolation there have been online concerts, online dance parties, and online drink gatherings. Great diversions, all, but here's hoping we do indeed flatten the curve and get back to getting together live and in person soon.
For the newsletter, I decided to go with a long poem that was published in a fall for the back page, Diary of a Russian Cosmonaut, as a way to share the ups and downs of social isolation. And for the front I've got an update on my orchid as well as an update on rhino conservation.
Next month I have a big announcement for an event in the fall, so stay tuned for that. And new dates for my corona-postponed events.
Do let me know if you want a paper copy of this newsletter. Thanks for reading and I hope you're able to avoid the coronavirus!
