Reclaim your world

Hey BIG REUSERS!  As we know, the reuse and re-purpose of materials not only helps preserve our environment, but also helps inspire creativity. It is always a wonder to roam through the store and get ideas for some wondrous transformations like this one! This project was completed by long time BIG customer Jack Neafsey.  The display case was transformed for "The Gift is Love", located in Rockaway Beach, one of the many local Rockaway businesses still trying to bounce back after Hurricane Sandy.  The custom trim is reclaimed cedar (from a Rockaway fence) and has been embedded with sea glass, star fish and other local sea treasures.

Auto Emissions Regulations Wrecked!

This week the Trump administration proposed to weaken antipollution and fuel-efficiency standards for cars -- significantly weakening policies to combat global warming.  The plan would remove current regulations that required automakers to nearly double the fuel economy of passenger vehicles to an average of 54 miles per gallon by 2025.  These vehicles account for 20% of US climate change gas emissions.  The Trump administration plan would halt requirements that automakers produces less polluting cars like hybrids and electric vehicles.

The proposed new rules would also challenge the right of states to set their own auto pollution standards.  The plan immediately faced opposition from environmentalists and consumer groups but auto-industry representatives as well as individual states.
