House Boat Life
How many people do you know that actually live on a boat? A year ago, customers of Big Reuse, Stephanie Harris and Danny Gonzalez followed a Craigslist ad to a marina to see a houseboat. That boat was in too much disrepair, but, they ended up meeting people who did have a boat which would become their home. Stephanie says when they found their boat, there was a rainbow in the sky.
Currently parked on a canal in Sheepshead Bay, Stephanie and Danny have spent the last year refurbishing the boat which was built in 1968. So far, they've been working on repairing the guts of the boat. They've replaced the plumbing, reinsulated the entire boat and are in the process of switching out and resealing the windows and redoing the kitchen. They finished the bottom floor, bedroom and bathroom.
Steph and Danny are committed to using reused and recycled materials. They put in a bamboo floor and tile with scraps slated for trash. In the kitchen, they kept the thirty-five year old stove, because it still works. The bathroom was built entirely from materials bought from Big Reuse!
Steph and Danny are excited about the project and would love to hear from you. If you're interested in more information, you can email Steph firstname.lastname@example.org.
