|Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) are pleased to announce two grant programs under the $1.8 million South Australian Wine Industry Development Scheme are now open.
The scheme aims to encourage growth in the wine industry and strengthen the state’s reputation as a producer of premium wine.
It focuses on upgrading cellar doors and providing wineries with the opportunity to diversify their operation to better attract wine consumers and tourists.
The scheme comprises two grant programs: Cellar Door Grants and Regional Wine Industry Association Grants.
The $1 million Cellar Door Grants program aims to help South Australian wineries create vibrant cellar door experiences, with grants up to $25,000 available.
This could include upgrading a cellar door to add an exclusive tasting room, bed and breakfast facility or wine educational program or any other means to add diversity to the cellar door.
Applications to this program close 5 pm, 16 November 2016.
The $600,000 Regional Wine Industry Association Grants program aims to assist regional grape and wine industry associations develop regional wine tourism and visitor experiences, with grants of up to $50,000 available.
As a regional grape or wine industry association, you can apply for a Regional Wine Industry Association Grant to develop regional wine tourism infrastructure. This could include foot paths, bike paths, signage or other means to support cellar doors at the regional level.
Applications to this program close 5 pm, 25 November 2016.
Under both grant programs applicants must match grant funding at a minimum ratio of $1 for each $1 grant.
In addition to the grant programs, I am pleased to inform you that the scheme will also support new major wine events and promotions – helping showcase the state’s premium wine to local and international markets and strengthen Adelaide / South Australia’s Great Wine Capital identity. PIRSA is currently working with industry to finalise details of this $200,000 element of the program.
