Hello,

Welcome to our first newsletter. These newsletters (3 a year) aim to share what the Lord is doing through creativity and Created Creative to encourage and give hope and to thank you for partnering in prayer, in finance, and/or in investigating more about being Created Creative in God’s image.

We use creativity to support people, running workshops and training teams to help facilitate God’s healing through creativity times in churches, in organisations, in communities, anywhere. We have an outward focus to enable God to bring His release and healing to hurting people opening up the opportunity of a deeper, sometimes a new relationship with Jesus as we connect heart to heart with Him.

Reflecting back over the last 4 months it is amazing to see what the Lord is doing in people’s hearts. In late December into the early new year it was special to be in Israel with the people there seeing God touching hearts through Creative expression. In January it was wonderful to be involved in creative times in the UK, at our home church in Buckingham and also in other places - I had a blessed weekend near Newcastle which you will read about. In February Andrew, Anke and I had the privilege of going to Romania on a ministry trip, this involved creativity times with women’s groups and reconnecting with our friends there.

Looking ahead we are excited to see opportunities to share Gods heart through creativity in the UK and overseas and also as we work on our application to become a charity. Please pray with us for God’s hand and guidance as the foundations of this ministry begin to take root. We are thankful to God for the journey He is taking us on.

At BPC...

Last September we started a monthly creativity evening at Buckingham Parish church (BPC). Click here for information on our next monthly meeting and other creativity times - if you are local, we’d love to see you.

Sally Cooper a regular participant shares:

For me the creative evening once a month at the parish is something I look forward to. On a Monday evening it is a perfect start to the week to unburden ourselves with those thoughts and challenges for what the rest of the week holds.  Emma has created a warm, loving and inviting space to relax in and to just come and ‘be’ at one with the Lord.  It has been a blessing to find a space to let go and to surrender this time to Him. I myself would never describe myself as say 'artistic' or 'creative' but since joining Creative Evenings I believe that creativity is in all of us, our loving God designed us this way. He has blessed all of us with this gift of creativity, much of which we apply to our daily lives without even recognising it.  The term 'creative' can set people into sudden panic causing people to question themselves and their 'creative abilities’. Be assured this is not the case at the creative evenings – we are all encouraged with the help of the Holy Spirit to explore our emotions through the creative process.  This can be expressed through verse, visual image, a thought, something on your heart, a colour, touch, prayer, an emotion basically anything! Out of any of these creates a pathway way between you and the Lord.  Communicating through this process gives me a real sense of peace and release. Verbally communicating with the Lord can sometimes be a challenge for all of us depending on our emotions, situations etc and for me this offers a comforting and reassuring way to be with God.”

Chris Murray shares a poem he wrote:

A FRACTURED HEART.

O God, I wish my heart was whole and healthy,
O God, I wish it was strong and steady,
O God, I wish it was firm and faithful,
O God, I wish it always overflowed with warmth and wisdom,
O God, I wish my heart was constantly full of love and laughter.
O God, I wish that my heart consistently longed for the good of others
and that I lived accordingly.
But no. My heart has been broken and is still fractured.
It contains so many different, conflicting elements.
I’m sometimes ashamed of it, sometimes I don’t understand it,
Occasionally it frightens me.
But then, if my heart was perfect, I wouldn’t need you…
I wouldn’t have to rely on you, constantly, to hold it together,
to deal with the bad, difficult bits, to coax the better bits to grow,
and gradually overcome the rest, so that I can become more and more like you,
and I can only become like you by throwing myself totally upon you.
If I felt my heart was perfect, I’d be lost… without you,
with no hope of being with you and you with me … FOREVER!
Thank you for my imperfect heart.

Near Newcastle

It was great to be invited to visit Amelia and her ‘Come to the table’ creativity group in South Tynside and to run a healing through creativity day at The Bay church, Whitley Bay, such a special group of people, a real community and the Lord really connected us as family for the weekend, bringing laughter, healing and many precious creative expressions through collage, paint and felt.

Time in Romania in February

Emma and I had the privilege to go on a mission trip to Romania in February. We had a very blessed time with the ladies and children.

On Saturday we met some women from the local congregation. Some of them were so excited to come out of their homes and have some “me - time” and be creative. We could sense the Lord's spirit was working there and I just felt that the Lord wanted me to tell them that He loves them unconditionally, no matter what!

The following day we visited a refugee centre for mothers and babies. These women were SO excited to see the different creativity materials on the table. One of them hadn’t painted for 25 years and it was amazing to see how creative she became and how much she enjoyed the time. The verse God gave me was Psalm 115:14: “May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” I continually prayed this over them whilst we painted.

We also visited an orphanage and after school club. This was an amazing few hours for me. The children just wanted to play with us, teach us Romanian and show us their homework. To see these precious faces light up was delightful.

It was a blessing to see God bless others and to experience God’s love, He cares for all His children!

Two recent testimonies

One lady shares:

“I painted this which I thought was pretty nice, but the 2 hands I realised meant stay away from the inside of me. The very beautiful coverage around the hands meant beautiful masks. I talked to God and ripped the paper up with Him, no more masks! I invited Jesus inside of me, the place I had protected and kept hidden. Thank you Jesus.”

A second lady shares:

I learn something new about who God is and how He loves me each time you run a creativity time here. I praise Him for this. Jesus loves me!”
