Dear Friends of Fordham Sailing,
This past week, the Rams traveled down to Virginia to spend our spring break training at Old Dominion University. This training period is an integral part of our spring season as it represents a significant portion of our on the water practice time and allows us to make up ground on the southern schools who began practice earlier in the year. Although the breeze was light, we had an excellent week of training and were able to hold multiple practice sessions per day, sailing both on our own and with the ODU team. Many thanks to ODU for hosting the Rams this past week!
This weekend is a busy one for the Rams with nearly our entire roster traveling in some capacity. The Rams are at three events, The Graham Hall Team Race at Navy, The St. Mary's Women's Interconference, and the King's Point Team Race Invite. The Graham Hall is the third event of the four weekend team race league and the only event that features all 10 teams together. This makes the event somewhat of a make or break for our team race team as we fight to earn a berth to the MAISA Team Race Championship through the league, but also to prove our worth on the national stage as we vie for a selection to the Team Race National Championship. The St. Mary's Women's is the first fleet race event of the season and offers our team an opportunity to regain our fleet race composure as we similarly hope to position ourselves on the national stage to receive a berth to the Women's Semifinals and Nationals. The King's Point Team Race Invite is a new event this year and another opportunity for our younger players to get some experience in the team race discipline, making up for the team race event that was cancelled last weekend. All three events are underway and results can be viewed at the Tech Score links below.
