Bringing Food to Those Who Need it Most

2021 started off with some great news – a new food rescue program to help us keep the community fed!
Roberti Community House is partnering with Project 22:9 to coordinate and distribute prepared meals. Over 75 buckets of fresh, high-quality food is delivered each week containing the components of a full, healthy meal (protein, vegetable, and starch/carb).

Roberti Community House is the Lake County hub that distributes this food to partner social service agencies, child care centers, food insecure families and the homeless.

Food Rescue and Mobilization

Our Food Rescue and Mobilization program has expanded at an accelerated rate during the pandemic! It is now front and center in our mission to serve and impact our community. The scope of work, number of partners, amount of food rescued, and number of communities and families served continues to grow rapidly.

“This food really helps me to stretch my grocery budget each week,” says one happy recipient at our Lakeside Apartments food distribution site.

Kudos to RCP!
Graduates from the Roberti Culinary Program are hard at work in the kitchen! They are using rescued foods and produce to make nutrient-dense meals for food-insecure families. Grilled chicken, Italian sausage with peppers and roasted potatoes are just some of the mouth-watering meals they have prepared recently.
Community Clean Up

Our annual Spring Clean Up is here! And as we have every spring since we opened our doors ten years ago, Roberti Community House invites volunteers and community members to come together and prepare our gardens for a summer of sharing.

Come put your hands in the dirt!

We'll be cleaning, prepping, digging, and planting outside in our three gardens. Be sure to dress for the weather. As you know, many volunteers make the work quick and enjoyable so invite friends and family to come and participate in our vibrant community.

Meet at RCH from 8:00am-12:00pm on one or all of the following days:

Tuesday, April 13
Thursday, April 22 - celebrate Earth Day with RCH!
Tuesday, May 4

Please let Pam, our Volunteer Coordinator, know if you are able to join us: volunteerRCH@gmail.com.

This year's garden events are spread out over several dates to allow for safe distancing. We also follow safety protocols including masks and health checks.

What Roberti Community House Means to Me
By Monica Velez Tamayo, Director of Kidz Kollege Group Day Care Home

When the pandemic began, my husband and I made the decision to keep our day care center open. The families we serve are low-income, essential workers and our day care is a vital resource that allows parents to continue working to support their families. This year, our families were struggling with the fear and strain of being frontline workers along with the stress of trying to make ends meet on a limited budget.

Since January, Roberti Community House has provided weekly prepared meals to our families. This food support has been a lifeline for them. Receiving this food has made it possible for families to direct their limited resources to other basic needs.

I am grateful to Roberti Community House for making this possible.
