The Day We All Went Home
Arts Project Australia fundraising auction in partnership with Leonard Joel
Online Auction this Weekend
Sunday 28 June 3pm

Only three days until The Day We All Went Home!

Hosted by auction house Leonard Joel, the fundraiser reflects on Saturday 16 March: the day the Arts Project Australia studio and gallery closed and 150 artists were asked to stay home due to COVID-19. The works of art left behind need to be seen and this is your chance to view them.

Time is now of the essence: browse 96 lots of 100 works by 54 artists from Arts Project Australia’s studio and three collaborating Melbourne-based artists and prepare a wish list for this weekend. With price-points and mediums for everyone, this is chance for you to welcome new art into your collection and support Arts Project Australia's ongoing viability as a centre of excellence throughout the remainder of 2020 and beyond.

Auction Highlights
Leonard Joel and Arts Project Australia talk about some favourite pieces

Leonard Joel picks...

We love the vibrant fields of colour in this piece by Alvaro Alvarez. Beneath the painted gouache surface is graphite sketching - drawn in, rubbed back and drawn in again, a process commonly seen in his work. Alvarez has worked at Arts Project since 2000 and his work is held by the National Gallery of Australia and National Gallery of Victoria.

Arts Project Australia loves...

We are excited to include in the auction artists who have collaborated with Arts Project artists. The manifestation of ideas and merging of identity is so apparent in this artwork James, made by Richard Lewer and Eden Menta in 2016. They created an incredible body of work, many of which have already sold, that was "all in, text people, images - it all becomes part of the work."
