Welcome to the March update

Further afield

Encourage your friends to take up dancing too! The Tuesday Class (Adel) welcomes beginners and we are looking at the feasibility of running a beginners' class.
Did you know that some Branch musicians practise Scottish music on a regular basis at the Chemic Tavern, and played there for Burns Night together with Irish/Celtic friends who also play at the Chemic, but on Wednesdays? Why not pop along for a listen? They practise on the first and third Sunday of the month between 7.30 and 10.00.

New RSCDS website.
At long last, the new RSCDS international website has been launched.  It promises (appropriately) great all-singing, all-dancing things!  I shall grit my teeth and get to grips with it shortly.

In the meantime, we'd like to check whether all our members receive the monthly eNewsletter from HQ.  Please, even if you think you would never open it or read it - (you should!), can you let either me or Christine know if it doesn't pop into your mailbox each month?

Equally, if you haven't received your October edition of Scottish Country Dancer magazine and you renewed your subscription before the end of September, please let one of us know.  The next edition is due in April, and should arrive courtesy or Royal Mail.

Class Representatives

To make your committee more approachable, the last committee meeting agreed that each class should have a representative on the committee to improve communication and so we can be more responsive to your views. Your class representatives are:
Monday afternoon - Elizabeth Pugh
Monday evening - Marion Walbank
Tuesday evening - Evelyn Davidson
Thursday afternoon - Elisabeth Pugh
Thursday evening - Alan Horsfall
Feel free to approach your representatives with  your gripes and suggestions

Musicians'  Workshop - THIS SATURDAY

16th March - You could still come to the Musicians' Day School for all instrumentalists wishing to develop their expertise in playing Scottish Country Dance music - but you'd have to sight read all the music which was sent out in advance.  But feel free to drop by to listen/observe - and come next year to play, or join the group at the Chemic.
The workshop sessions will be led by Ian Muir and participants  are invited to play alongside Ian to form the band for our evening dance.

Bring a Dance to Class?

Have you always had a dance you would like to try out? Do you think an occasional class when you could bring a dance along to try out would be a good idea?  You need to arrange it with your teacher in plenty of time!  You would be given all the support you need, if you do not feel confident to teach it to the class yourself.
There are dances from my youth which may deserve resurrection as they are rarely danced now, or what about that fun dance you did whilst visiting family in Canada or even last Saturday in Great Ayton?
