We have been asked to dance at Castle Howard!

How exciting is that!

Countryfile Live is heading to Yorkshire!

Making its official Northern debut, Countryfile Live is setting up home in the stunning grounds of Castle Howard from 15th - 18th August 2019. And they have asked Leeds Branch to join them. They have asked us to do three half-hour slots on the Saturday and two on the Sunday. We have suggested that we dance for 20 minutes and then do 10 minutes audience participation. So, we are looking for volunteers.

Are you free? Can you join us? Even if you don't feel confident to do the demonstration extra people to help with the audience participation would be great. We welcome you to join us as we celebrate the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

It sounds like it will be a great weekend with the favourite BBC Countryfile heroes on The Main Stage; Get up-close-and-personal with a diversity of fauna and flora in The Wildlife Zone; View spectacular stunts in The Arena; And see your favourite TV chefs live at the Le Creuset and Countryfile Kitchen Theatre. Full programme

Beckett Park - Picnic in the Park
We have been asked to host a stand at this community picnic/concert being held on Beckett Park, Headingley, on Sunday 7th July 2019 from 1pm to 5pm. It is run by the Friends of Beckett Park in conjunction with Beckett Park Residents Association.

The picnic runs from 1pm and the Bassa Bassa Band will play from 2.30 to 4.30pm. This looks like a perfect opportunity to raise awareness and advertise our classes. Again, we are looking for volunteers to help staff the stand during the afternoon (particularly asking those who live local to Headingley). The more volunteers we get the better. I realise this clashes with Catherine's last rehearsal before our festival, so really appealing to those who are not going to that.
Demonstration Team
The Branch is keen to have a core list of dancers who could be called upon to dance if we were asked to provide a team. The idea is to have a selection of dances that people will be able to do without too much rehearsal. There is no expectation that you need to be able to do all the demonstrations or that there will be loads of them, but it is a shame if we have to turn down opportunities to advertise Scottish Dancing locally.

If you can help out at all, please email Evelyn and Christine in the first instance. Say if you are available
  • to dance at Castle Howard, and if so Saturday/Sunday or both. In the dems or just to help with the audience participation
  • to help staff the stand at the Beckett Park Picnic
  • to add your name to the list of dancers available for future demonstrations.
Please sign up to help us advertise Scottish Dancing locally
Best wishes
