A Letter from Founder Alisha Ramos
To our GNI Reads community:
Community is at the core of what we do at Girls' Night In. From the start, I built this brand with the ethos of literally hosting a night in with friends in mind, and tried to capture that feeling of fun, intimacy, and slowness.
Over the past 2+ years, it's been incredible to see our community connect in person with us and with one another in 9+ cities over our common love for books, reading, and slowing down. 📚We've seen new friendships form, hidden gems discovered in your respective cities, and great discussions had and ideas shared. When I (admittedly, haphazardly) started the monthly GNI book club 2+ years ago, I had never dreamed it would become such an amazing offline community that it is today. Our readers want to meet each other? In real life? And leave their homes to do it? 😱
After an incredible run of our GNI Reads book clubs, we’re now ready for an exciting next chapter at Girls' Night In to continue our mission of helping people relax, recharge, and build more meaningful community. Next year, we'll be launching a project the team and I have been working on for most of 2019 called The Lounge by Girls’ Night In.
We’ll be ready to share more details about The Lounge and *what it is exactly* in 2020, but for now I can say that the team and I are very excited by its potential to bring people together offline over gatherings like book clubs and more. If you’re interested in being the first to hear what The Lounge is and when it launches in your city, sign up for the waitlist here.
To give The Lounge the attention it deserves, we’re pressing pause on holding offline monthly book club meetups and December 2019 will be our last in-person GNI Reads book club month. We’ll continue to choose monthly book club picks and share them across our platforms, and hope you’ll continue to read along with us virtually using the #GNIreads hashtag to share what you’re reading.
I want to take a moment to thank our incredible team of 20+ city hosts in Alexandria, Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. who served as amazing, thoughtful, and empathetic community-builders in each city. If you get the chance, please be sure to send your hosts a quick thank you note. Our hope is that this isn't a forever goodbye!
I can’t thank you enough for being a part of this community and choosing to spend your time reading and discussing with us each month. Cheers to the time we’ve spent together, and an even bigger cheers to what the future will bring! 🎉
