Hello from everyone at Birmingham Community Matters
Read on for a list of interesting community events taking place in Birmingham this month and next.
Also, if you live in south Birmingham and you're:
* Volunteering for a community group
* Coordinating work in the area for a charity
* Working with a small social enterprise
* Part of a public institution
* Just interested in getting more involved with community life
. . . we'd love you to join us for our B30 Get Together on the evening of Thursday 6 June. We're planning this event alongside Councillor Fred Grindrod with hopes for building an even more connected community in B30 and beyond.
Here’s a link to the first of our occasional short #WednesdayWisdom videos. The videos contain snippets of advice from people in Birmingham who have experience in volunteering or running a community group. This is the very wise Chris Bonnard, a Birmingham Community Matters trustee:
Introduction to Bid Writing for Charities and Community Groups
Bid-writing experts Get Grants are holding a free workshop on Tuesday 18 June, from 1 to 3.30pm at the Moseley Exchange.
The half-day session is aimed at people who are interested in increasing their organisation's income through grant funds.
Whether you have a wealth of fundraising experience or you're new to applying for grants, the workshop should be useful by:
* Helping you identify opportunities with a range of grant programmes
* Providing advice on writing successful applications
* Exploring the common mistakes made by applicants.
You can sign up now by contacting Get Grants. Please note - if you've attended a Get Grants workshop with BCM before, the content will be the same. Please feel free to forward this message to a friend or colleague who may benefit.
We're growing our networks and always looking for useful events and info to share. This is just a small selection of things we have spotted or been sent. If you have something you'd like us to consider promoting, email email@example.com.
Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. We'll be back soon with more useful info. In the meantime keep us posted on your community updates and success stories via our social media channels. We love to share good news.
