Yamhill County News Update

What we've been talking about

  • Candidate Voters' Pamphlet Statements are live on the Oregon Secretary of State's website. Find them here. Statements submitted by local Yamhill County candidates were supposed to be made available on the 16th, but they haven't been uploaded yet. Interim Clerk, Keri Hinton, who is currently running for the seat she's occupying, said the statements will only be available in the printed pamphlet.
  • You've probably noticed the candidate signs going up across the County. The State of Oregon passed new campaign finance reporting rules this year that require campaign communications to disclose who paid for the communication (field signs count as campaign communications). None of the signs for Christine Drazan, Kit Johnston, Lucetta Elmer, or Keri Hinton include campaign finance information, which means these campaigns are violating campaign finance law. Oregon is one of the least restrictive states when it comes to campaign finance, and this new rule is a small step towards transparency. Complaints can be made to the Elections Division of the Secretary of State. Click here for more details.
  • Victoria Ernst's opponent in the race for HD 24, Lucetta Elmer, spoke at the Yamhill county Republican Women's meeting recently. Here is the video.

Our growing Facebook Group is 'Private', meaning that unless you are in the group, you cannot search for it, see anything anyone posts in it, or even find out who else is a member.  We take our members privacy seriously and have a team of moderators who vet every new member before adding them.  In order to enable new members to find us, and to communicate key events to the public, we also have a public Facebook Page.  If you would like to join, and the first link didn't work for you, use the second link and follow the instructions to let us know!
We Are engaged residents and friends of Yamhill County who believe in developing a community that both respects and creates equity, inclusion, safety and freedom from fear & hate for all. Our purpose is to educate & inform, and to actively participate in the creation of a local climate in support of these beliefs.
