Taking a TiBA Focus

The focus of Together is Better Alliance (TiBA) has always been to engage individuals, communities, and institutions in conversations around racial justice. As you can imagine, these may be challenging and uncomfortable conversations. That's understandable. However, it won't stop us and we hope it doesn't stop you from starting and staying on this journey to dismantle systemic racism.

We focus on engagement and civil discourse in a non-blame, non-threatening environment. This has resulted in courageous, yet safe conversations of understanding, respect, and a more comprehensive and truthful understanding of the history of our wonderful, yet flawed nation.

TiBA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization that lives out its mission and vision through a learning culture that drives us to not only talk but act. We invite you to engage with us on events and fundraising activities that will help us continue this work. This is what it means to "take a TiBA focus." Are you ready?

We Value You, Our Partners
TiBA couldn't do this work without you, our partners. You keep us informed, engaged, and energized. We value your presence and persistence. We are different communities, backgrounds, and hues that speak a common language focused on racial justice. Click here to read about Chuck and Mary Ellen Lukavsky's journey with TiBA and Pizza & Social Justice.

Why Didn't I Know That?

Every TiBA newsletter attempts to challenge us and you to ask, "Why didn't I know that?" Read something, watch a documentary, join a discussion group, do something that provides an opportunity to help you grow in appreciation for the dignity and respect of all.

During March, we received yet another thoughtful and thought-provoking email from Pizza & Social Justice. Click here to read. We also encourage you to click here for details of a screening of The Long Shadow hosted by the Roselle-Bloomingdale League of Women Voters on Tues., March 3 at 6p. In addition, click here for details about a screening of The Long Shadow on WTTW on Sat., March 7 at 3p. Just Mercy, an exceptional docudrama about racial injustice in the criminal justice system, came out earlier this year. If you haven't seen it, it's still showing at some movie theaters.
