What's "the Good?"

We are "focusing on the good" this month. You might ask, "what good?" Well, I guess we could talk about the almost 270,000 covid deaths, the ever-increasing political divide in this country, the possible irreversible educational setback that many of our children will probably suffer from, increased suicides or suicide attempts, George Floyd's death, etc. The list is endless. But we're not going there. We are focusing on the good--the friendships that have developed over these last two-plus years when we first showed The Long Shadow. You are "the good." You have reached out to us, shared your insights with us, volunteered with us, supported screenings of The Long Shadow, donated funds even before we received our 501(c)3 status, and more. Thank you!

Be a Seed of Good
With all the pain, grief, vitriol, and verbal and physical attacks during and prior to covid; the beauty of creation burst through with vibrant colors this Fall. If this tree started as just one seed and now brings so much beauty into the world, each of us can be a seed for good. We'd like to hear your story of good being done.

Join us this Sun., 12/6, 4p CT to share your story of "good" being done in your community, workplace, or home. We're calling it "Your Favorite Beverage & a Conversation." Email us at info@togetherisbetteralliance.org and we'll send you a Zoom link.

Why Didn't I Know That?

As TiBA continues to grow, our friends increase across the country. Sydney Chayes of Green Valley, AZ joined the TiBA family of Volunteer Leaders earlier this year. She was eager to show The Long Shadow in her community. Through her perseverance, she was the impetus for the event below.

On December 9th the League of Women Voters Greater Tucson (LWVGT) in Arizona will host a screening of The Long Shadow Film - including a live, Zoom Q&A with Frances Causey. Three years ago, the LWVGT started a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee under the leadership of Judy Wood and Mary Gresham. The DEI Committee educates its members on cultural diversity, reaches out to the community to learn about different cultures, participates with other community groups becoming aware of their issues, and provides assistance using the tools of LWV (League of Women Voters). The Committee has had steady growth since its inception 3 years ago and now includes close to 60 members. Judy Wood is excited about the critical and timely insights Frances Causey presents in The Long Shadow and is arranging for the Tucson event to spearhead similar LWV events throughout Arizona.

Andy Swindler is co-founder of FeelReal and a TiBA Volunteer Leader. FeelReal is a marketplace and community of online dialogues that have the power to change lives and co-create a just and sustainable world. Several dialogues are in the category of racial justice, which you'll find listed here:
https://feelreal.net/tag/racial-justice/. FeelReal was featured on NBC4 in Washington last week. Click here to check out their interview.

Jeri Shaw, one of the founding members of ComeUnity in Lombard, IL and a TiBA Volunteer Leader, shared that their monthly meetings on topics related to being anti-racist are on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Their next Zoom meeting will be on Dec. 9 at 6:45p CT. Please email ComeUnity.socialjustice@gmail.com for a Zoom link and to be added to their distribution list.

Erik Franzen, a TiBA newsletter subscriber in Aurora, IL, shared an invitation to TiBA subscribers to participate in a Zoom meeting titled "Intergenerational Dialogue on Race" on Tues., 12/8 at 7pm CT. He is part of a group of Study Circles that have reached out to Aurora and Oswego, IL high school students to have a discussion on current race issues. If interested in attending, please email Erik at franzenerik1@gmail.com.
