Public Radio Tulsa and NPR don’t just give you facts and news. When you tune in to 89.5 FM, you hear stories with heart...conversations that inspire...insights into who we are.  

Take listener Christian Threadgill. Like many of us, she drove to work with Morning Edition every day. Then, something changed.  

"As I listened, I just fell in love with the different stories and pieces,” Christian describes.

Christian heard something that inspired her work as a high school tutor. “I heard crowdsourced poetry on NPR one morning as I was getting ready for work. And I was thinking it’d be a fun activity with the kids.”  

This fun activity with her students became something remarkable — a student-sourced poem reflecting on hopes and dreams for the school year.

And this past fall, Christian donated to support the station that inspired it all. She made her donation to Public Radio Tulsa in honor of her students.
“[My students are surrounded by] the noisiness of things like TikTok and other social media that drown out communication with other people. I think radio and NPR really inspire us to connect with others.” 
“For this industry to be sustained in the future, it takes dollars. I just gave up my one Starbucks trip a month to do this.”
